Doug Tuttle will release his third solo album, Peace Potato, on May 5 via Trouble in Mind. (Pre-order.) Doug further refines his jangly style that owes much to The Byrds, George Harrison and other 12-string slingers, here with a more ambitious scope. We’ve got the premiere of “Can it Be,” which definitely echoes Harrison (by way of solo Pete Townshend) and is part of a song suite within the album. Says Tuttle:
Of the many concepts running through “Peace Potato”, the most visible is the intended feel of a problematic night of sleep. Stories ending abruptly, reinterpretations of veiled paranoia, waking dreams, dreams of well known songs, odd distortions of real word troubles, even recurring flashes of a fictitious movie. These moments split time with those of sleeplessness, real life dread of a dying world, and the guilt of never having worked against it.
Listen to “Can it Be” below.
You can catch Doug Tuttle on tour in May, including a show at Brooklyn’s Baby’s All Right on 5/22 with Lina Tullgren and more TBA (no word on tickets yet). Earlier in the tour, he’ll be just outside of the city at BSP Kingston on 5/9 with INN:IS (tickets).
