Dan Boeckner is currently on a solo tour where he and his band play songs from across his catalogue, including his recent solo album, plus songs by Wolf Parade, Handsome Furs and his collab with Spoon’s Britt Daniel, Divine Fits. But at Dan’s Brooklyn show Wednesday night at Music Hall of Williamsburg, the audience got an actual Divine Fits reunion.
For the encore, Dan played Divine Fits’ “Civilian Stripes” solo and then brought out Britt Daniel and DF drummer Sam Brown (also of New Bomb Turks) — the original trio lineup of the group — for “Would That Not Be Nice,” “My Love is Real” and “Shivers” (their cover of Rowland S Howard/Nick Cave’s early band The Boys Next Door), which were all from the band’s sole 2012 album.
Spoon brought out Dan at NYC’s Hammerstein Ballroom in 2022 to do a Wolf Parade song, but this was the closest we’ve had to a Divine Fits show since 2013.
