The first day of the 2018 edition of Desert Daze was cut short due to severe weather. The festival kicked off on Friday (10/12) at a new location, Moreno Beach in Lake Perris, CA. Tame Imapla were fifteen minutes into their set when organizers sent the band offstage and advised attendees to seek shelter in their cars because of thunderstorms and lightning in the area.

While organizers told the crowd that they hoped to continue the show after the storms passed, the rest of the festival’s first night, which had been scheduled to include sets from Conan Mockasin, Wand, Lumerians, Sons of Kemet and others, was cancelled while storms remained in the area.

On Saturday (10/13) morning, Desert Daze updated that they “are working extremely hard and will have the grounds open and ready for you to enjoy today.” They also addressed parking issues that, according to The Sun, caused delays of over two hours for attendees to make it from the entrance of the state park to the parking lots. “We have made the necessary adjustments to get cars in faster,” they wrote. “Additionally, as a thank you for your support, parking will be free for the rest of the weekend and we will be refunding everyone’s parking fees who have already paid.”
