Depeche Mode‘s upcoming live album, Memento Mori: Mexico City, includes four previously unreleased songs from the Memento Mori sessions as bonus tracks. They’ve shared one of them today, “In the End,” which is also used in the end credits of their new documentary DEPECHE MODE: M, which will be shown in IMAX theaters on October 28.
A rumination of mortality, “In the End” is a pretty terrific Depeche Mode song, all midtempo mood as they sing “We’re weightless / Floating endlessly / We’ll be dust again / In the end” over layers and layers of very cool-sounding synths. How did this not make the album? Listen below.
Memento Mori: Mexico City is out December 5 via Columbia Records. That date is also when DEPECHE MODE: M is released on Blu-ray, DVD and digitally.
