Canadian-Serbian singer-songwriter Dana Gavanski has announced her third album, the follow-up to 2022’s great When It Comes. LATE SLAP is due out April 5 via Full Time Hobby. It was produced by Tunng’s Mike Lindsay, and she learned to use Logic Pro while writing it, progressing beyond her previous guitar and voice-centric approach. “The album holds together the seemingly disparate aspects of my character that I have sometimes tried to repress,” she says. “With this album I’m letting them into the room, celebrating them for all their strangeness—a strangeness which I think we all, on some level, share.”
The first single is “How To Feel Uncomfortable,” which is accompanied by a video directed by Ella Margolin (sister of Porridge Radio’s Dana Margolin). “I realized that in order to become stronger I needed to get used to being uncomfortable,” Dana says of the song. Watch the video below.
Dana hasn’t announced a full tour supporting LATE SLAP yet, but she’ll play a London show ahead of its release on February 7 at Folklore.
