After cancelling their tour last year not long after their fantastic triple album Diamond Jubilee began to really take off, Cindy Lee returned to the stage on Tuesday (11/4) at Chicago’s Thalia Hall, the first night of a short run of shows they’re doing this month. Like they’ve performed previously, most of the set was Pat Flegel alone onstage with guitar and pedals, and Freak Heat Waves, who are opening the shows, joined on synths for a couple.
Most of Tuesday night’s set pulled from Diamond Jubilee, but they included a handful of other songs, including some off Cat o’ Nine Tails, What’s Tonight to Eternity, and Malenkost, and a cover of Chad VanGaalen’s “Burning Candle.” There were also two songs attendees couldn’t identify that may be new. The tour includes another Chicago show, followed by Toronto and two nights in Montreal, wrapping up with a pair of NYC shows at Brooklyn Paramount on November 14 and 15. See all dates below, and pick up Cindy Lee vinyl in the BV shop.
