Charlotte Gainsbourg has shared the video for “Deadly Valentine” from her forthcoming album Rest. The video co-stars Dev Hynes of Blood Orange, though he does not feature on the track itself. Says Charlotte:
Each video came from personal, resonating ideas. This song mixes wedding vows with an offbeat tone. I wanted to express the idea of a lifetime engagement; a couple running to church, from childhood to old age, a lifetime path. I asked my friend Dev Hynes if he would play my partner, and he very graciously agreed. It was fun finding our younger and older selves!
The song itself, produced by SebastiAn, is a French disco banger, cool and pulsing. Watch the video below. Rest is out November 17 via Because Music and includes contributions from Owen Pallett, Connan Mockasin, Daft Punk’s Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, as well as a song written by Paul McCartney.
Blood Orange just played The Meadows, and will perform a solo piano show as part of the New Yorker Fest.
Charlotte’s mom, Jane Birkin, will play a tribute to Serge Gainsbourg at Carnegie Hall in February.
