Cap’n Jazz are continuing their reunion into 2025 (Primavera Sound included), and in conjunction with that, they’re also giving their sole album Burritos, Inspiration Point, Fork Balloon Sports, Cards in the Spokes, Automatic Biographies, Kites, Kung Fu, Trophies, Banana Peels We’ve Slipped on, and Egg Shells We’ve Tippy Toed Over (aka Shmap’n Shmazz) its first vinyl reissue since the album’s initial release in 1995. The album has been remastered from the original tapes, and the remastered version is on streaming services today as well.

This is an album that needs no introduction, but just in case: Before Cap’n Jazz broke up and members formed American Football, Joan of Arc, Owls, The Promise Ring, and a handful of other bands, they wrote the blueprint for scrappy, mathy Midwest emo. It’s a record that seems to get more and more influential with each passing year, and it sounds as fresh today as ever.
