When Bob Mould fondly eulogized Prince last week, he mentioned he’d be playing two nights at Minneapolis’ First Avenue, the iconic club where much of Purple Rain takes place and where Prince had played many times, over the weekend. At the Friday night (4/22) show, Bob paid tribute by covering “When You Were Mine” with help from Minneapolis band Suicide Commandos and featuring Bob’s tour manager, Che Arthur, on lead vocals. “We are not worthy,” Bob told the crowd before launching into a joyous cover of the song. The night before, First Avenue held an all-night Prince memorial dance party.
