blink-182 played the first show of their North American summer arena & stadium tour at Orlando’s Kia Center last night (6/20), and as Stereogum points out, they had some surprises in store that they didn’t have on the 2023 tour, which was their first tour with the classic Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge, and Travis Barker lineup since 2013. They played “Obvious” from the untitled album and “M+M’s” from Cheshire Cat for the first time since reuniting, and they also did something they’ve never done before. They played a mini medley of two songs from their side projects: “When Your Heart Stops Beating” by Mark and Travis’ band +44 and “There Is” by Tom and Travis’ band Box Car Racer.
“Me and Travis are making Tom play this song, so you can thank us,” Mark told the crowd of “Obvious.” And before playing “M+M’s,” he said, “It’s from an album called Cheshire Cat. It’s better than anything the Beatles put out.”
blink also played six songs from last year’s One More Time and they debuted another new, not-yet-released song called “Can’t Go Back.” It’s a somber ballad, and judging by fan-shot video, it sounds pretty good. They also played the great non-album song “Not Now,” which they only played at one show in 2023 (according to Setlist.fm). Check out footage of all these songs below.
UPDATE: They continued to break out more songs for the first time since Tom rejoined at night two in Miami, including another from the untitled album (“Easy Target”) and a huge classic from Cheshire Cat, “Carousel.” Before playing the latter, Mark said, “This tour is for our brand new album One More Time, but it’s also a celebration of the history of blink-182, and this next song is the first song that Tom and I wrote together, the very first day that I met that son of a bitch back in 1992.” Watch those below too.
blink’s tour hits NYC on July 21 at Citi Field, and there’s also a show near NYC at Hartford, CT’s XFINITY Theatre on July 24. Those are both with Pierce the Veil and EKKSTACY. The Texas shows on the tour are with the “what the fuck is up, Denny’s?” band and the Denver show is with Drain. All remaining dates are listed below.
