Beach Goth Sunday was a rainy mess, Grimes didn’t play

It never rains in Southern California, so sings one of The Strokes’ dads, but downpours wreaked havoc on the second day (10/23) of Beach Goth at The Observatory in Orange County, causing some performances to be canceled or moved. The biggest bummer from this for attendees was probably Grimes, who came out on stage to announce that she wouldn’t be playing as rain damaged some of her equipment, saying “I know that totally fucking sucks.” She then wrote on twitter:

RL Grime, however, did play. Some acts, like Devendra Banhart, Future Islands, The Addicts, and Unknown Mortal Orchestra soldiered on through the rain while The Drums moved stages and times, as did Nicolas Jaar whose set also went from being a live performance to a DJ set. The Growlers, who organized Beach Goth, had to start 40 minutes late due to the weather.
