It’s been a while since we’ve heard from Australia’s Lost Animal, the electro-funk project of Melbourne’s Jarrod Quarrell, whose debut album, Ex Tropical, came out in 2013. Now backed by Ariel Pink collaborator Shags Chamberlain (who you may have seen in Weyes Blood’s new video), Lost Animal are back will new album You Yang, due out October 21 via Captured Tracks/Dot Dash. (Cover art above.) There’s a scuzzy, down-in-the-gutter vibe (in that Nick Cave kind of way) to the new album, with a distinct dub influence this time around.
