Angelo Badalementi‘s score for David Lynch‘s 1986 classic film Blue Velvet, which was the beginning of a 30-year collaborative relationship between the pair, is getting a 40th anniversary vinyl reissue on September 4 via Varèse Sarabande. It comes housed in a rainbow foil jacket, and you can preorder our exclusive Silver & Blue Velvet vinyl variant, which is limited to 500 copies.
The Blue Velvet soundtrack was not only Lynch and Badalamenti’s first time working together, it was also their first time working with singer Julee Cruise, who was brought in for the song “Mysteries of Love.” All three would work together on Twin Peaks and two Cruise albums. The soundtrack also includes Roy Orbison‘s “In Dreams” and Ketty Lester‘s “Love Letters.”
The digital version of the 40th anniversary edition of the Blue Velvet soundtrack features an additional 43 music cues.
