Bandcamp have launched a California Wildfire Relief Fundraiser that runs all day and finds Bandcamp donating 100% of its proceeds to MusiCares to support musicians affected by the wildfires. And for the occasion, American Football have released American Football (Live in Los Angeles), a live album recorded at El Rey Theatre during the band’s LP1 25th anniversary tour. The band says the album will get an official release later on, but “given the timing, immediacy, and feeling of helplessness from afar,” they decided to give it an early Bandcamp-only release timed with the relief fundraiser. On top of Bandcamp’s own fundraiser, American Football and Polyvinyl will be donating 100% of their proceeds from now through Sunday (2/9) from the album to the California Community Fund.
Making the album extra special, it features guest appearances from Ethel Cain on “For Sure” and M.A.G.S. on “I’ll See You When We’re Both Not So Emotional,” the same two songs that each artist covered for the recent LP1 covers album.
