Molly Rankin from Alvvays has taken to Instagram to share what she titled a “begrudged public service announcement for concertgoers.” In it, she says, “if grabbing someone on or offstage without their consent is in your playbook of potential behavior, please stay home! For many, this will be a no-brainer but for some it clearly is not. Thank you to the kind people of San Luis Obispo who’ve reached out to us.”
As discussed on Reddit, Molly left the stage after a man from the crowd came onstage during “Archie, Marry Me” at Alvvays’ April 20 show at Fremont Theater in San Luis Obispo. According to one commenter, “he pushed Molly aside, then walked up to the mic but didn’t say anything – he then immediately jumped off the stage into the crowd after a security guard tried getting him. I don’t know if he got kicked out.”
September of 2017, a man jumped onstage and tried to kiss Molly at their show in Antwerp, Belgium.
