Adeem The Artist has announced a followup to their 2022 album White Trash Revelry, Anniversary, due May 3 via Adeem’s own Four Quarters Records and Thirty Tigers (pre-order). The album was produced by Butch Walker, and it features contributions from Katie Pruitt, Aaron Lee Tasjan, Megan Coleman, Nelson Williams, Ellen Angelico, and Jessye DeSilva.
The first single is “One Night Stand,” which Adeem calls “a ’90s pop country bop” with a queer twist. “Queer Country as a genre has meant a lot to me,” they say. “Discovering Karen & The Sorrows, Paisley Fields, D’orjay the Singing Shaman, I had a community that I got stitched into with a rich tradition of political activism, demystifying theory, and reclaiming space in the cultural rooms where we’ve long sat unacknowledged.” Listen below.
