9 New Songs Out Today

So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.

THE CHARLATANS – “WE ARE LOVE” (MGMT REMIX)

“Someone mentioned a remix and I just thought we’d go to the absolute best,” The Charlatans’ Tim Burgess says of this MGMT remix of their new single. “It was a long shot but long shots sometimes come off. A few messages were exchanged and I ended up in L.A. so we met up and not long after, this amazing remix arrived in my in box. Loss of Life was my favourite album of 2024 so, I genuinely felt like I was dreaming when I first played it.” The Charlatans’ new album We Are Love is out October 31.

SAMIA – “CINDER BLOCK”

Samia follows this year’s great Bloodless with a new single, “Cinder Block.” “This one’s sort of an extension of Bloodless – took most of it from poems and wanted it to feel like treading water,” she says. “Was listening to a lot of Leonard Cohen and the Theory of Forms reference in Suzanne felt pertinent – then it just became a recurring bit in the song to quote him. Jack Sparrow’s compass only points to what the person holding it wants the most.”

SNOOPER – “POM POM”

Snooper, who are currently on tour with The Hives, will release their new album Worldwide just a couple weeks and here’s another preview. “‘Pom Pom’ is about being your own cheerleader, a topic that is explored throughout the whole record,” says the band’s Blair Tramel. “It’s about having to sit on the sidelines sometimes, supporting others, taking hits, and bouncing back. After cheering for other people for long enough, you reach a point where you learn to cheer for yourself as well. While self confidence is important, you also have to be able to laugh at yourself. Honestly, if you can’t laugh at yourself, you might have some work to do — GO TEAM!!!!“

JENNY ON HOLIDAY – “EVERY OUNCE OF ME”

Jenny Hollingsworth of Let’s Eat Grandma has released her debut solo single as Jenny On Holiday. “Every Ounce of Me” is an ecstatic synth-pop jam that she wrote with Steph Marziano. “‘Every Ounce of Me’ was inspired by singing dramatic, fun, ’80s love songs at karaoke with my friends,” she says. “I wanted to write something of my own I could imagine in that setting. It’s a song about not being able to help falling for someone despite your reservations about love and trying your hardest not to.”

THE SAINTS – “JUDAS”

The final Saints album, Long March Through The Jazz Age, is out November 28 and it’s the last recorded work of Chris Bailey. “Judas” is warm and melodic with a little melancholy undercutting the glow.

ANNA VON HAUSSWOLFF – “FACING ATLAS”

Anna Von Hausswolff’s anticipated new album ICONOCLASTS is out on Halloween, and the latest preview is the dramatic “Facing Atlas.” “‘Facing Atlas’ is about the risks of commitment; to be bound to something until you no longer feel control over yourself and your direction in life,” she says. “A destiny can feel like a prison if it’s not chosen by heart’s desire.”

NYC SHOOTOUT – “KNUCKLEHEDZ INTRO,” “NYC KNUCKLEHEADS,” & “REFLECTIONZ”

NYC Shootout is a NYC Oi!/hardcore band whose new album Knucklehead Anthemz comes out October 10 via DAZE. Three of those knucklehead anthemz are out now, and one of them is a reflective jazz-rap song.

SPIRITUAL CRAMP – “AUTOMATIC”

Spiritual Cramp gave us another early taste of their new album RUDE, which you can read more about here. Pre-order our exclusive orange marble vinyl variant of RUDE, limited to 500 copies, in the BV shop.

MOZART ESTATE (LAWRENCE FROM FELT) – “SUMMER IS HERE”

It’s the end of the summer, but Lawrence makes it feel like June. New Mozart Estate album Tower Block in a Jam Jar is out October 17.
