So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
BENJAMIN CLEMENTINE – “TOXICALIPHOBIA”
Benjamin Clementine has announced a new album, Sir Introvert and the Featherweights, due February 14, and its first single is the gently genre-defying “Toxicaliphobia.” He’ll also begin a North American tour soon, including a show at City Winery NYC on December 8.

FACS – “DESIRE PATH”
Chicago trio FACS have shared a second single from their upcoming album Wish Defense, which was the last album the late Steve Albini engineered. “Desire Path” is a a study in tension and release.

PORIJ – “MARMITE” (FCUKERS REMIX)
Manchester band Porij have handed over “Marmite” from their debut album over to NYC’s Fcukers who give it a skittering remix.

ADVANCE BASE – “THE TOOTH FAIRY”
Owen Ashworth’s first new album as Advance Base in six years, Horrible Occurences, comes out this Friday, and ahead of its release he’s shared a final advance single, “The Tooth Fairy.” “I’ve been playing ‘The Tooth Fairy’ at my live shows since the spring and it tends to get a strong reaction,” Owen says. “I’ve seen more people walk out of my shows after this song than any other song I’ve written. Other people have told me that it’s their favorite song of mine. It’s a song that messes people up, myself included. I had to practice playing it for a long time before I could get through it without crying. I feel a little silly about this, partially because it’s one of my shortest songs, and also because very little actually happens in it. But some of my biggest fears from my experiences as both a parent and a child are right there in it. Sometimes it feels terrible to unload my worst thoughts and feelings into other people’s heads, but there’s also a great deal of satisfaction that comes with getting it right. To be heard and to be understood. These are the reasons I’m still compelled to write and perform songs after doing it for so many years.”

GREENTEA PENG – “ONE FOOT”
UK artist Greentea Peng is following up 2021’s Man Made (and 2022 mixtape Greenzone 108) with new album Tell Dem It’s Sunny which will be out March 21 via AWAL Recordings. The first single is “One Foot,” which finds Greentea’s mix of soul, jazz, dub and hip hop still in fine trippy form.

RATTLE – “YOUR MOVE”
UK drums-and-voice duo Rattle are back with their first new music in six years — Encircle will be out February 28 via Upset the Rhythm. “Your Move” is a bold return, a 15-minute jam that shows they’re marching to the beat of a different drum.

COMMONER – WINTER PROMO
Tucson’s Commoner cite Citizen, Movements, and Incubus as core influences, and you can hear that coming through in their spacey, emo-y alt-rock. They just dropped a new promo via New Morality Zine with three new tracks.

SINCERE ENGINEER – “PARTING GIFT” (ft. BRENDAN KELLY)
Chicago melodic punks Sincere Engineer have shared a new song that features one of their hometown heroes and biggest influences, The Lawrence Arms’ Brendan Kelly.

KESTRELS – “LAST CHRISTMAS” (WHAM! COVER)
Does the world need another cover of Wham!’s “Last Christmas”? Probably not but shoegaze group Kestrels do put a new spin on it.
