8 New Songs Out Today

So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.

DOUG GILLARD – “MY FRIENDS”

Doug Gillard has played in a lot of bands over the last 30+ years — Cobra Verde, Guided by Voices, My Dad is Dead, Children’s Crusade, to name four — but you can hear a little Nada Surf on this latest single from upcoming solo album Parallel Stride that’s out tomorrow.

HANNAH FRANCES – “BEHOLDEN TO THE BIRDS MURMURING ABOVE” (FT. MARY LATTIMORE)

Hannah Frances has released the deluxe edition of her 2025 album Nestled in Tangles, and it includes the expanded “Beholden to the Birds Murmuring Above,” featuring Mary Lattimore. “I’ve loved Mary Lattimore’s work for a long time and feel very honored she contributed ethereal harp magic to an extended version of ‘Beholden To,'” Frances says.

DURAN DURAN FT NILE RODGERS – “FREE TO LOVE”

Duran Duran reteam with their Seven & The Ragged Tiger producer, CHIC svengali and tourmate Nile Rodgers for this sleek and slinky disco new wave banger. “Every time we plug in and play with Nile, the electricity he generates could light up a whole city,” DD’s Nick Rhodes says. “We share a common belief that music is a force for good and something that brings positive energy into the world. ‘Free to Love’ is our call to all the people out there who want peace, hope and understanding to prevail. An anthem for freedom, which is the most valuable currency we have, and something that should be truly and freely available for everyone, everywhere. ‘Free to Love’ has a simple message, there is nothing more important than freedom and love. We certainly need a lot more of both in the world right now.”

GENESIS OWUSU – “LIFE KEEPS GOING”

Genesis Owusu’s new album REDSTAR WU & THE WORLDWIDE SCOURGE is out in May, and he’s given us another preview with “Life Keeps Going.” “The world hasn’t ended yet,” he says. “We’re still moving, we’re still jumping, we’re still living, and so we shall continue. Through rain, shine, exploitation and warfare. We, the people, will always stubbornly persist, and hopefully persist hand in hand.”

DAUGHN GIBSON – “QUANG NAM”

Dark, soulful singer songwriter Daughn Gibson will release Lake Mary not mysterious, his first new album in 11 years, in a couple weeks. His lush, gothy style still sounds great on “Quang Nam.”

QUICKSAND – “GET TO IT,” “REGENERATE”

Quicksand announced their third post-reunion album, Bring On The Psychics, and shared the first two singles, which you can read more about here.

THE AFGHAN WHIGS – “DUVATEEN”

There is still no word on a new Afghan Whigs album, but here’s their second single of 2026.
