So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
JOSHUA IDEHEN – “IT ALWAYS WAS”
Poet and writer Joshua Idehen has signed to Heavenly Recordings and announced his first album for the label. I Know You’re Hurting, Everyone Is Hurting, Everyone Is Trying, You Have Got To Try will be out March 6. He says new single “It Always Was” “is me trying to capture a moment of optimism from my past: I used to have a bunch of mates, and we’d squeeze into a Mazda and ride around London, trying to get into bars, ending up on a bench somewhere watching the sun be reborn. One time, we’d spent the night bigging ourselves up (I think Benji had just left McDonald’s and moved into finance) and we all started sharing our five-year plans. Come the morning, a friend Martin said “what’s meant for me will find me anyway” and that line stuck with me for over a decade.”

SQUINT – OVERSLEPT
St. Louis hardcore/alt-rock crossover band Squint have announced a new EP, Drag, due November 7 via Sunday Drive. First single “Overslept” finds their instrumentals getting more power-poppy than ever, like if Third Eye Blind was fronted by a gravelly hardcore punk shouter.

YUKIMI (LITTLE DRAGON) – “ALL OVER ME”
Little Dragon singer Yukimi has announced the Yume EP which is out November 5 via Ninja Tune and features four previously un released songs from the For You sessions.

HANNAH FRANCES – “THE SPACE BETWEEN” (FT. DANIEL ROSSEN)
Hannah Frances’ new album Nested in Tangles is out this Friday, and the final advance preview is “THE SPACE BETWEEN,” which features Daniel Rossen of Grizzly Bear. “‘The Space Between’ is the culmination point of the album,” Frances says. “It is an exploration of surrender without resolve or forgiveness, of living in the spaces left.”

JO PASSED – “ICO”
Jo Passed, aka Toronto-based artist Jo Hirabayashi, has announced new album Away which will be out January 23 via Youth Riot. This is the first single.

MADI DIAZ – “WHY’D YOU HAVE TO BRING ME FLOWERS”
Madi Diaz’s new album Fatal Optimist is out this Friday, and ahead of its release she’s shared a final advance single, “Why’d you Have to Bring Me Flowers.” “I want to think it’s not a small thing that i wrote this song by myself,” she says. “I don’t finish a lot of songs totally by myself… Something about an idea I try to finish where sometimes I can get out my red pen and am so brutal with it until there won’t be any song left. I’m trying to be better about that. This is the first song I’ve finished alone in a very long time and I’m proud of that.”

BILL ORCUTT – “A NATURAL DEATH”
Another Perfect Day is Bill Orcutt’s first solo electric guitar record and will be out November 14 and here’s the first taste.

DOVES – “SPIRIT OF YOUR FRIEND”
This is the requisite “new” song on So, Here We Are: Best Of Doves and it dates from the 2005 Kingdom of Rust sessions.
