So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
THE PLANET SMASHERS – “MEET ME ON THE DANCEFLOOR”
Canadian ska vets The Planet Smashers have announced a new album, On The Dancefloor, due August 22 via Stomp Records. It features contributions from Neville Staple (The Specials), Charley “Aitch” Bembridge (The Selecter), and Sara Johnston (Bran Van 3000), and the lead single is the undeniably catchy “Meet Me on the Dancefloor.”

FEEL THE PAIN – “WAR WITHIN MYSELF”
Australian hardcore band Feel The Pain have announced a new EP called World In Two, due August 15 via Last Ride Records. Along with the announcement comes the ass-beating new single “War Within Myself.”

HÅVARD VOLDEN (LOST GIRLS) – “ORYZAE”
Jenny Hval collaborator and Lost Girls member Håvard Volden releases Small Lives this week and here’s one last preview. “Oryzae, also called koji, is a mold that grows on starchy foods, such as rice and barley, and is the key ingredient in making sake and soy sauce,” Volden says of the song title’s originas. “As I was writing this album, I was learning to make different products using koji, like miso and Shoyu. I feel like the other songs on the album grew out of this song, just like the mold oryzae grows and spreads on rice.”

TOM VEK – “C-C (YOU SET THE FIRE IN ME) (DAVE GLASS ANIMALS REMIX)”
Tom Vek is celebrating the 20th anniversary of his debut album, We Have Sound, with a remix album that’s out October 2 and features contributions from Everything Everything, Gus Alt-J, Baths, Dutch Uncles, Metronomy’s Anna Prior, and more. Here’s Dave Bayley of Glass Animals remix of “C-C (You Set The Fire In Me).”

THE CHARLATANS – “WE ARE LOVE”
The first single and title track from The Charlatans’ 14th album — produced by Dev Hynes — is a little different sonically from what you might expect from the Manchester vets, but it’s a wonderful bit of guitar pop.

BRET MCKENZIE (FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS) – “FREAK OUT CITY”
Here’s the Nilsson-eque title track from Bret McKenzie’s second solo album.
