6 New Songs Out Today

So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.

MAN/WOMAN/CHAINSAW – “ADAM & STEVE”

UK group Man/Woman/Chainsaw are back with this standalone single that swoops and swirls. “We wrote Adam & Steve last year and it’s our own bittersweet take on the heart-on-sleeve love song,” says the band’s Billy Ward. “It comes from a place of wanting to find a little fairy tale escapism in modern romance.”

CHEPANG – “PARICHAYA 2.0/SHAKTI (FORCE)”

Queens-via-Nepal grindcore quintet Chepang have announced their new album and first for Relapse, Jhyappa, due May 23. A video is out now with the album’s first two songs, and both are scorchers.

THE CONVENIENCE – “WESTERN PEPSI COLA TOWN”

New Orleans duo The Convenience release new album Like Cartoon Vampires next week and here’s one last hooky preview. “Like Opportunity’ and a few others on the record, “Western Pepsi Cola Town” was written from a jam. Its lyrics related to an article I read about corrupt contractors making money off of foreign governments (“I cash in / while they cash out”). Had so much fun doing the fake jazz bit in the middle.

MAMALARKY – “WON’T GIVE UP”

Mamalarky’s new album Hex Key is out this week and here’s one last early taste before the whole thing drops.

MARK STEWART (THE POP GROUP) – “MEMORY OF YOU” FT HOLLIE COOK

The Pop Group‘s Mark Stewart had just finished completing a new solo album before his death in 2023, and its release has now been announced. The Fateful Symmetry will be out July 11 via Mute. The album’s first single is “Memory of You,” a darkwave torch song co-produced by Mark and Youth of Killing Joke, and featuring backing vocals by Hollie Cook.

GWENNO – “DANCING ON VOLCANOES”

Gwenno has announced new album Utopia that will be out July 11 via Heavenly. After three record sung in Welsh or Cornish (including 2022’s Mercury Prize nominated Tresor), she’s singing in English for her fourth which was produced by her longtime collaborator Rhys Edwards and features contributions from Cate Le Bon and H. Hawkline. Here’s the first single.
