So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
LOW HARNESS – “BLOODPLAY”
Cornwall-based UK band Low Harness release their debut album, Salvo, on December 6 via via Krautpop! and here’s an early taste that owes a little to Broadcast. Say the band: “Bloodplay is about the lengths people go to for pleasure, to escape from the banality of everyday existence and act out their most subversive urges. Even if we do not give in to these fantasies, or are too afraid to realise them: a place exists in our imagination where we cannot be judged playing them out.”

RICHARD DAWSON – “BOXING DAY SALES”
“I wanted to make a pure pop song,” says Richard Dawson of the new single from his upcoming album End of the Middle. “Almost like a total throwaway song – like a Christmas gift: A pair of novelty socks, some Lynx Africa, or a daft plastic puzzle you get on Christmas morning and then chuck in a drawer for the next 10 years. I wanted it to be the most throwaway and lightweight triviality of a thing.”

MADI DIAZ – “KID ON CHRISTMAS”
“I pulled up to Carrie K’s house in between tours on a hot summer day to write a song and for some reason this little melody had been bugging me,” Madi Diaz says of her new holiday track. “I had started singing it somewhere in New Jersey…the line came while I was trying to pluck it out on an old upright piano at my friend’s studio. It followed me all the way back to Tennessee and felt so inappropriate given the 100 something temperature outside, but the line ‘I think I could feel like a kid on Christmas’ was just sitting stubbornly in my chest. My whole body was craving a holiday.”

CHIVÀLA – “OGGETO DI SCENA” & “FAR TREMARE IL CORPO”
Italian screamo band Chivàla will cap off the year with a new album, Baota, due December 20 via No Funeral. If you like uplifting, melodic, European-style screamo, don’t miss out on this.
