33 New Songs Out Today

So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.

CHILDISH GAMBINO – “IN THE NIGHT” (ft. JORJA SMITH & AMAARAE)

Childish Gambino has shared a new song from his upcoming “final” album Bando Stone & The New World, and it’s an experimental, polyrhythmic pop song featuring UK soul singer Jorja Smith and Childish’s upcoming tourmate Amaarae.

DENZEL CURRY – “HOODLUMZ” (ft. PLAYTHATBOIZAY & A$AP ROCKY)

Denzel Curry’s King of the Mischievous South Vol. 2 comes out this Friday (7/19), and here’s one more single. This one features fellow South Florida rapper PlayThatBoiZay and Denzel’s longtime New York-based peer A$AP Rocky, and it’s another great one. We’ve got two exclusive vinyl variants of KOTMS2 up for pre-order in the BV shop.

DEATH GOALS – “KNIFE BOUQUET” (ft. MATT REYNOLDS)

UK duo Death Goals have followed their 2023 album A Garden of Dead Flowers with another great single, a soaring post-hardcore song called “Knife Bouquet.” It features Matt Reynolds (Haggard Cat, Heck), and the band calls it a song “of necessary catharsis; wanting to move on from years-old heartbreak but unsure of how to do so.”

CHASTITY – “SUMMER ALL OVER AGAIN”

Chastity has announced a new self-titled album, due September 13 via Deathwish Inc (US), Dine Alone (CAN), and Big Scary Monsters (UK/EU). The first single is the grunge-punk anthem “Summer All Over Again.”

COMBAT – “EPIC SEASON FINALE”

Baltimore indie-emo-punks Combat turned a lot of heads (including ours) with the recently-released title track of their upcoming album Stay Golden, and today they’ve shared the second single and it’s another great one.

BALANCE AND COMPOSURE – “BELIEVE THE HYPE”

Balance and Composure’s first album in eight years, With You In Spirit, is said to touch on a little of everything that Balance did throughout their initial 12-year run, and new single “Believe the Hype” should please fans who are craving more of the band’s heavier side.

SAMPHA & LITTLE SIMZ – “SATELLITE BUSINESS 2.0”

Sampha and Little Simz are two of the UK’s most uniquely thrilling vocalists, and they come together on a new version of “Satellite Business,” which was originally a very brief track on Sampha’s 2023 album Lahai. Now it’s a full-blown, multi-faceted, five-minute song and Sampha’s and Simz’s voices sound great together.

HEXVESSEL – “UNDER THE LAKE”

Dark psychedelic band Hexvessel have signed a multi-album deal with Prophecy Productions and confirmed that a new album is on the way. Most details on that are TBA, but for now, they’ve shared the previously unreleased track “Under the Lake.”

HORSE JUMPER OF LOVE – “TODAY’S ICONOCLAST”

Horse Jumper of Love’s new album Disaster Trick is out next month, and they’ve given us another early taste with “Today’s Iconoclast.” “I was watching a Pasolini film and read someone describe him as an iconoclast,” Dimitri Giannopoulos says. “I became obsessed with that word and idea. In order to make something good, you have to destroy a belief in some way. You can’t stay static, you have to accept change and be able to adjust. I was thinking everyone should try to be as iconoclastic as they can because a lot of people end up being unhappy or unsatisfied. I think we all could be happier if we made an effort to destroy what we believe to be true about our own desires.”

G.O.O.N. – “PUNISHED”

Denver punks G.O.O.N. will release their new LP God’s Only Option Now on August 2 via Convulse Records, and the first single is the garagey hardcore of “Punished.”

PALEHOUND – “FADIN’ (LIVE AT FIRST CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH)”

Palehound announced a new album album, Live at First Congregational Church, due out on August 16 via Polyvinyl. It was recorded by Andrew Sarlo at their set opening for Adrianne Lenker at Los Angeles’ First Congregational Church in December of 2021, and the first single is a solo acoustic take on Eye On The Bat track “Fadin’.”

49 WINCHESTER – “HILLBILLY HAPPY” & “MAKE IT COUNT”

Country band 49 Winchester have shared two more tracks from their upcoming album for New West, Leavin’ This Holler.

LESIBU GRAND – “EMOTIONAL DISGUISE”

“We wanted to champion the idea of exploring the full range of emotions in a lighthearted way while still remaining true to ourselves,” Lesibu Grand tell FLOOD about their new single. “Sometimes we’re not exactly sure how we feel about another person, or a situation, and it may be useful to ‘try on’ different emotional states to see if they square up with our core values. Being honest is also important, of course, but real honesty requires self-exploration, and that’s what ‘Emotional Disguise’ is all about.” It’s from their new album Triggered, out in August on Kill Rock Stars.

ASHER GAMEDZE & THE BLACK LUNGS – “FIND EACH OTHER”

Asher Gamedze & The Black Lungs have announced a new album, Constitution, due August 30 via International Anthem, and lead single “Find Each Other” is a stirring jazz/spoken word hybrid.

GAEREA – “HOPE SHATTERS” & “WORLD BLAZE”

Portugal black metal band Gaerea will release their new LP Coma on October 25 via Season of Mist, and they sound pretty ferocious on these first two singles.

LOS BITCHOS – “KIKI, YOU COMPLETE ME” & “1K”

London-basedd instrumental band Los Bitchos have shared two new songs from their upcoming album Talkie Talkie. They say of “Kiki”: “This track feels like the opening sequence of a comic book series. The tom sounds we went for are outrageous, like the ‘pows’ and ‘thwacks’ of a comic strip punctuating the music… think Batman meets Bitchos! Towards the end of the song we extended this chuggy, tension building section and brought out a guitar solo before ending on the comic/video game theme vibe refrain.”

MOLCHAT DOMA – “TY ZHE NE ZNAESH KTO YA”

Belarussian band Molchat Doma release new album Belaya Polosa in September and here’s a second early taste.

ALAN SPARHAWK (LOW) – “CAN U HEAR”

Low’s Alan Sparhawk has now officially announced his solo album, White Roses, My God, which will be out September 27 via Sub Pop. (We knew it was coming.) He made the record at 20 Below Studios in Duluth, MN, and it was co-produced by Nat Harvie, who also mixed the album. It’s his first major release since the death of his wife and bandmate Mimi Parker in 2022. Be ready for lots of extreme autotune.

FASTBACKS – “COME ON”

Seattle cult punk/power-pop legends the Fastbacks have announced their first album in 25 years. It’s titled For WHAT Reason! and will be out August 28 via No Threes. “Come On” finds them still in fine, ultracatchy form.

A PLACE TO BURY STRANGERS – “DISGUST”

“‘Disgust’ is a song I wrote that was inspired by the way I used to perform ‘Got That Feeling,’ a song by my old band Skywave,” says APTBS’ Oliver Ackermann. “There was a long riding open note on the bass that enabled me to play the whole part with my fist in the air. I wrote this song just on open strings so it could be played with just one hand: dumb and fun.” His band’s new album Synthesizer is out October 4.

NICK LOWE – “DIFFERENT KIND OF BLUE”

“I had recorded this one as a demo back during The Convincer sessions and Neil Brockbank sent it off as a b-side to the label to be included as a bonus track on an exclusive version of the album,” says Nick Lowe of “Different Kind of Blue” which is on his upcoming album Indoor Safari. “I had forgotten about this song for the most part until recently fans have rediscovered the track and brought it back to my attention. I listened to the original demo, wrote new lyrics and added a full band arrangement to it and think it turned out pretty good.”

THE LINDA LINDAS – “ALL IN MY HEAD”
