So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
THE CALLOUS DAOBOYS – “LEMON”
The Callous Daoboys have shared the third single off their upcoming new album I Don’t Want To See You In Heaven, and this one finds the mathcore-and-more band abandoning heavy music entirely and going in a clean, lightly-funk-infused alt-rock direction. And in classic Daoboys fashion, it comes with an entertaining video that sarcastically pokes fun at the direction of this song. If you like what you hear, pick up the album on multi-color swirl vinyl.

AROOJ AFTAB – “RAAT KI RANI” (KHRUANGBIN REMIX)
Arooj Aftab has given her song “Raat Ki Rani” from her album Night Reign and there are serious early-’90s Pure Moods vibes here, specifically Enigma’s “Sadeness.” Start your bubblebath.

THE WAEVE – ETERNAL EP
Graham Coxon and Rose Elinor Dougall have shared a new The WAEVE EP. “I think the new EP songs carry a lot of the same edge and paranoia as our second record City Lights,” says Coxon. “Love Is All Pain especially, it’s focused on the allure of the city – how it seduces young people, drawing them in with experiences that either make or break them. Eternal takes on a more mythological perspective, expanding on the song Undine from our first record. It explores an afterlife or a death connected to being taken away by sea spirits, with a more romantic, poetic nature. It’s the Hope That Kills You is a grinding, mechanical beast of a track. It started as a jam bent into a song, carrying a darker, heavier guitar tone. But, like many WAEVE songs, it also has a thread of optimism – thanks to Rose. Her voice blossoms through the bleakness I created.”

FLORENCE ROAD – “HEAVY”
Irish band Florence Road have shared a new single, dramatic indie rock track “Heavy.”

DAVIDO – “BE THERE STILL”
Nigerian pop star Davido’s fifth album 5ive comes out on April 18, and its latest single is the breezy, polyrhythmic “Be There Still.”

JADE BIRD – “WHO WANTS”
“I wrote this about divorce,” Jade Bird says of her new single, a country-inflected ballad. “It’s about the symptoms of a broken relationship that you don’t advertise or want to talk about. Staying inside the shell or ghost of what once was, while mourning what could have been.”

AMINÉ – “FAMILIAR”
Aminé is set to release a new album this spring, and most details are TBA, but we did just get this funky new single.

LIL NAS X – “HOTBOX”
Lil Nas X released one new song a day this week, and he caps the week off with “Hotbox,” which kinda sounds like the pop/hip hop crossover hits that Timbaland and The Neptunes were producing in the mid 2000s.

WISP – “SWORD”
Wisp is one of the fastest-rising shoegazers around, and her new single “Sword” puts a shoegazy twist on an early 2000s-style alt-rock power ballad.

THE BOREOUTS (THE SUICIDE MACHINES, GANGSTER FUN, THE DIRTBOMBS) – “DO YOUR SCAM” / “TIGHTROPE”
The Boreouts are a Detroit punk supergroup with The Suicide Machines’ Jason Navarro on vocals/guitar, The Dirtbombs’ Ko Melina on bass, and Gangster Fun’s John Bunkley on keys, and they just dropped a rippin’, garagey two-song single via Rad Girlfriend Records.

MONK – “SHADOW SELF” & “DARK SIDE OF THE MIND” (ft. COUNTERPARTS)
LA “zen hardcore” band Monk will release Dark Side of the Mind on April 25 via Dine Alone, and two rippers are out now, including one featuring Counterparts vocalist Brendan Murphy.

URSULA – “WATCH OUT”
Apple Valley, California hardcore band Ursula will follow a few EPs with their first full-length, I Don’t Like Anything, due April 4 via Indecision Records. First single “Watch Out” whips.

COMMONER – “CHANGE OF HEART”
Tucson grungy emo band Commoner have announced a new three-song EP, Change of Heart, produced by Zach Tuch (Touché Amoré, Knocked Loose) and due out April 4 via New Morality Zine. Here’s the heavy yet melodic title track, which gives me some Balance & Composure vibes.

CUCO – “MY 45” (ft. JEAN CARTER)
Cuco taps into vintage Chicano soul on new single “My 45” off his just-announced new album Ridin’, due May 9 via Interscope.

MORGAN WADE – “EAST COAST”
Alt-country singer Morgan Wade is back with a bittersweet, melancholic new single, “East Coast.”

RACHEL KITCHLEW – “MAMMONE”
After collaborating with Hot Chip’s Alexis Taylor last fall, British jazz harpist Rachel Kitchlew shares a lovely new single, “Mammone.”

BLEED – “MARATHON”
Dallas grungegazers Bleed (who feature current and former members of Narrow Head) have announced their self-titled debut LP, due out May 2 via 20 Buck Spin. Lead single “Marathon” finds them leaving heavily into the Deftones vibes.

FUCKED UP – “SELF-DRIVING MAN”
Fucked Up embrace their love of no-frills, old-school hardcore on their new Poison Idea-referencing Sub Pop single. The killer “Disabuse” came out back in January, and now second track “Self-Driving Man” is here and it’s another ripper.

KEY GLOCK – “NO SWEAT”
Memphis rapper Key Glock’s new album Glockaveli comes out May 2 via Republic, and new single “No Sweat” is a fun dose of speaker-shaking, catchy Southern rap.

BRYAN FERRY AND AMELIA BARRATT – “LOOSE TALK”
Bryan Ferry and Scottish multidisciplinary artist and author Amelia Barratt are releasing collaborative album Loose Talk on March 28 and here’s the title track.

PANCHIKO – “MAC’S OMLETTE”
“The little piano piece that wouldn’t go away, recorded on my brother’s piano one Christmas in Liverpool,” says Panchiko’s Owain Davies of the band’s latest single from the upcoming album Ginko. “It lived on the laptop for a while, but turned into this laid back number mid way through making the new album. Make what you want from the lyrics, To me the song represents being mid journey staring out the window finding new meanings in the unexpected, enjoying life right?”

ORTHODOX – “SEARCHING FOR A PULSE”
Nashville metalcore band Orthodox have announced a new album, A Door Left Open, due 6/6 via Century Media, and here’s the bone-crushing new single. Read more here.
