So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
INSECURE MEN – “LA POOL BLUES”
Insecure Men, the band led by former Fat White Family member Saul Adamczewsk, has a new EP on the way and while full details have yet to be shared, you can hear the first single now.

BRENDAN ANGELIDES – “I’M AFRAID OF AMERICANS” (DAVID BOWIE COVER FT. SERJ TANKIAN)
Brendan Angelides (Eskmo, Welder) has teamed up with Serj Tankian of System of a Down to cover David Bowie’s “I’m Afraid of Americans.” “Thirty years ago Bowie and Eno wrote this song,” Angelides says. “Unfortunately it’s still accurate. In our video we used motion capture to animate childhood photographs of us both, two kids mouthing ‘I’m afraid I can’t help it.’ My friend Serj sings it as if he doesn’t want to be overheard. His is frightened, mine is grinning at sundown, the manic American psyche torn in every direction.” It’s from his new album Can You Feel the End Begin?, due out August 14 via Ancestor.

2ND GRADE – “CELLOPHANE GIRLS”
Philly power poppers 2nd Grade have signed to Lame-O Records and have released their first single for the label. “With ‘Cellophane Girls’ I wanted to write something like a six verse Bob Dylan ballad crammed into the space of a two-and-a-half-minute pop song, a loose tale full of finger-pointing and playful tangents and obscure pathos,” says frontman Peter Gill. “It’s meant to come across as pretty open ended. To me it’s a song of empathy, about how hard it is to find your place in the world.”

ELLIS – “ALL THAT I’VE GOT”
Canadian artist Ellis has been busy playing guitar for Ethel Cain on tour, but she’s made time to release a dreamy new single, “all that i’ve got.” “This song is about feeling like a loser no matter how hard I try,” she says. “I’m not sure how much I believe in the concept of destiny but sometimes it feels like there’s nothing I can do to change mine, for better or for worse.”

SPIKE FUCK – “ALL BY MYSELF”
Australian cult artist Spike Fuck, who is currently on tour with Kirin J Callinan, has announced his debut album, evidence, which will be out October 2 by Sacred Bones. First single “All By Myself” is an eccentric mix of R&B, glam and punk.

SHEARWATER – “YOU AND YOUR DOG” (FT. LAURIE ANDERSON)
Shearwater gave us another taste of their new album The New World with “You and Your Dog,” which features Laurie Anderson. ““Laurie’s been a friend and hero of ours for a long time and when I wrote this story, it was easy to imagine in her voice,” Jonathan Meiburg says. “I was thrilled when she agreed to perform it.”

WHYTE HORSES FT JAKE SHEARS – “CALABASAS”
Enigmatic Manchester UK collective Whyte Horses are back with their first new music in seven years with this glammy number featuring Scissor Sisters’ Jake Shears.

WINTER – “WITHOUT YOU” (FT. SOCCER MOMMY)
Winter announced a new EP, Romantix Mixtape, due out September 18 and featuring reimagined songs, reworked demos, b-sides, and other previously unheard tracks. She’s shared one of those, “without you (mixtape version),” featuring Soccer Mommy.

LAWRENCE ROTHMAN – “KARMAKAZE” (FEAT. AMANDA SHIRES)
“Time doesn’t heal much,” Lawrence Rothman says. “It just gives a song another verse. ‘Karmakaze’ became the companion to a song of mine ‘Thrash the West,’ (feat Amanda Shires) and my dear friend Amanda came back to sing on it. I didn’t know I was writing the second half of ‘Thrash the West.’ Sometimes people have a way of showing up exactly where the story left off. New album Here Lies Love / Sawdust to Stardust is out September 25.

BLOC PARTY – “NOW WE CAN’T BE FRIENDS”
“‘Now We Can’t Be Friends’ is the point in the album when the heart has finally broken, with Okereke heading back out clubbing again, and not speaking to his ex when he sees him on the dancefloor,” Kele Orereke says of the latest single off Bloc Party’s new album Anatomy of a Brief Romance, adding, “You can have these big feelings, but you have to be aware that when they go, this is how you’ll feel and, you’ll be okay with that.”

ALEX BUREY – “UNSPOKEN”
London-based multi-instrumentalist Alex Bury has signed to Domino imprint Doublesix and released his hazy first single for the label. “Unspoken was created during the early hours in my studio,” Alex says. “At the time I had lots of lamps in there which created a certain mood which inspired the guitar tones which I began with. The drums were a nod to Shuggie Otis and created using a 70s drum machine loop. Lyrically it was inspired by a first love break up! The final part was recording the saxophone lines with Dom Kirtley.”

HAAI – “IGNITION” FT. ECHONOMIST
Teneil Throssell’s new album as HAAi, DIGITiSE, is out on October 9 via Mute, and she’s shared a new single, “Ignition.” “‘Ignition’ is a collaboration with Echonomist, someone whose music has shaped many of my sets since I started touring,” she says. “Sonically, it’s a driving broken beat track that maintains a lot of innocence. Lyrically, it is deeply personal: documenting my coming-of-age as a queer kid in a small town, desperate to leave. In the true spirit of DIGITiSE, ‘Ignition’ serves as a sequel to Go!, from my previous album HUMANiSE. Both tracks are so important to the storytelling of the albums, I’m glad to be able to take it to the place we feel the most free, the dance floor.”

PEACE TEST – “TOTAL POWER”
Providence hardcore band Peace Test have announced a new LP, Repercussion, due August 14 via Delayed Gratification, and the first single is the high-speed “Total Power.”

JUDY (AGRICULTURE, DINERS) – “DENIM GIRLS”
Judy is the duo of Agriculture’s Leah Levinson and Diners’ Blue Broderick. They dropped their debut EP Songs of Mutt and Hate in April and now they’re releasing a second EP, Death of a Ladies’ Mutt, on August 6. Here’s the slacker rock-ish “Denim Girls.”

BERNIE TAUPIN – “THE SEA HAS NO MERCY”
Bernie Taupin is probably best known as Elton John’s lyricist, but he’s also released three solo albums and he’ll release his first in almost 40 years, The Sea Has No Mercy, on October 23 via Vertigo/MCA Nashville. Here’s the ballad-driven title track.

ANTHONY GREEN – “PETS” (PORNO FOR PYROS COVER), FT. SWEET PILL’S ZAYNA YOUSSEF)
Anthony Green of Circa Survive, L.S. Dunes, etc has released a cover of Porno For Pyros’ ’90s hit “Pets” and it’s got guest vocals from Sweet Pill’s Zayna Youssef. Anthony makes it sound like one of his own, and the song comes with a video featuring recent live footage.

DREAMWELL – “CARRION BIRDS ON THE ARK”
Providence screamo/post-hardcore band Dreamwell have given us the intense second taste of Hymns For The Denial Of God with “Carrion Birds on the Ark”

ROBYN – “TALK TO ME” (REMIX ft. ZARA LARSSON)
Swedish pop veteran Robyn recently appeared on a remix of fellow Swedish pop singer Zara Larsson’s “Puss Puss” for the remix album Midnight Sun: Girls Trip, and now Zara returns to the favor on a rework of “Talk To Me” from Robyn’s recently-released album Sexistential.

London-based artist Maripool has shared “Favourite,” a melancholic indie rock song from her upcoming debut album Rotten Luck, which arrives August 28 via Smoking Room / Lost Wisdom.

PUREST FORM – “ANIMAL”
Purest Form, the industrial project of Fury’s Madison Woodward, will release the Resistance EP on September 4 via Dais. First single “Animal” is here now.
