So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
L.S. DUNES – “FATAL DELUXE”
Post-hardcore supergroup L.S. Dunes (Circa Survive, My Chemical Romance, Thursday, Coheed, etc) get heavy and trippy on new single “Fatal Deluxe,” which Frank Iero says “marks the official opening of chapter two for L.S. Dunes. It’s a song that bridges the gap musically between where we were as a band and individually, and catches the listener up to where we are headed.”

CRYOGEYSER – “BLUE LIGHT”
Cryogeyser say their new single is “about the things you think you can’t reach, you think you can’t be, you think are outside of you ~ usually those things have been yours all along~”

GWEN STEFANI – “SOMEBODY ELSE’S”
Gwen Stefani has announced her first (non-Christmas) solo album in eight years, Bouquet, due November 15 via Interscope, and the first single is the heartland rock-leaning “Somebody Else’s.”

RAHIM REDCAR – “DEEP HOLES”
Rahim Redcar, formerly Christine and the Queens, announced a new album, Hopecore, due out on September 27 via Beacause Music, and shared the first single, electro track “Deep Holes.”

TOURIST & GOLD PANDA – “+1”
Tourist and Gold Panda are both masters of melodic, atmospheric electronic music, and they’ve put their heads together for an alluring song in that very style, “+1.”

DASHBOARD CONFESSIONAL & BOYS LIKE GIRLS – “WATCH THE FIRE”
Dashboard Confessional and Boys Like Girls are on tour together now, and they’ve shared a new collaborative single to celebrate. On working with Boys Like Girls’ Martin Johnson, Chris Carrabba says, “Martin and I had bonded over some horrific accidents we’d had and about the recoveries that we had both worked our way through. One of the things you carry heavily when your body is laid up and your spirit is heavy is, inevitably, the past. One thing Martin and I share between us was a desire to put the past down for a while. Maybe for good. I hope so. I guess I do know one sure way of putting the past down, for a little while anyway: pick up a guitar. Reckoning with your past can be painful and ugly. It can also be rejuvenative and beautiful. I don’t know whether you get to decide. I just know that it’s worth it.”

CHUCK RAGAN – “ONE MORE SHOT” (ft. PAIGE OVERTON)
Chuck Ragan of Hot Water Music has shared a jangly, mid-tempo, country rock collaboration with Paige Overton off his first solo album in 10 years.

THE BLESSED MADONNA – “SECRETARIAT” FT. SHAUN J. WRIGHT & KON
“Secretariat was a Triple Crown winning horse that captivated the world and ran in a way that exceeded all other horses,” The Blessed Madonna says of the namesake for the latest single off her long-in-the-works debut album, Godspeed. “Upon his death, the doctors treating him examined him to see what it was about his body that made him different and when they opened his giant rib cage, inside it was a vastly oversized heart. Put simply, his engine, his heart, was bigger than anything anyone had seen. I was moved by the life and death of this Kentucky hero and so when it came time to write the first song on this album eight years ago, my hands found the chords that would become the basis of the song and through the grace of Shaun and Amy and the House Gospel choir, and of course Kon, we found the great big heart of this record.”

BENJAMIN TOD (THE LOST DOG STREET BAND) – “ONE LAST TIME” (ft. SIERRA FERRELL)
The Lost Dog Street Band’s Benjamin Tod and Sierra Ferrell are two of the most intriguing voices in the alt-leaning country scene at the moment, and they’ve come together for this appealing collab. It’ll appear on Benjamin’s new solo album, Shooting Star, due October 18 via Thirty Tigers.

BILLY STRINGS – “SEVEN WEEKS IN COUNTY”
Billy Strings’ new album Highway Prayers is due out next week, on September 27 via Reprise Records, and he’s given us another early taste with “Seven Weeks In County” and an accompanying western-themed video directed by Bryan Schlam.

AUDREY NUNA – “MINE”
Hip hop/art pop fusionist Audrey Nuna has announced a new album, Trench, due October 18 via Arista. New single “Mine” heavily interpolates Brandy and Monica’s classic “The Boy Is Mine.”

AESPA – “SUPERNOVA” (GRIMES REMIX)
“I normally don’t do remixes but I could not resist messing with this acapella even though the original production on this song is undefeatable,” Grimes says of her new Æspa remix. “I went back to cyber twee for this… it’s very Grimesy.”

BKTHERULA – “ADULT SWIM”
Atlanta rapper Bktherula returns with her first new single since this year’s LVL5 P2.

SARAH JAROSZ – “JUST LIKE PARADISE”
Sarah Jarosz has released a deluxe edition of her 2024 album Polaroid Lovers, which includes the bonus track “Just Like Paradise.” “I wrote ‘Just Like Paradise’ with Daniel Tashian in the same few days as Columbus & 89th and Days Can Turn Around,” she says. “We were overlooking the Gulf of Mexico and taking in the cool ocean breeze. The way the sunlight was sparkling on the water led us to imagine a place where you never have to be cold or worried or lonesome and you can let go of all your darkness and fears.”

SHENSEEA – “DATING SZN”
The ever-prolific dancehall star Shenseea shows off a more relaxed side on new single “Dating Szn.”

PHANTOGRAM – “IT WASN’T MEANT TO BE”
“‘It Wasn’t Meant To Be’ started as an idea mixing elements from Josh’s 4-track and a beat he made chopping up sounds from when we first started making music together,” Phantogram’s Sarah Barthel and Josh Carter say of “It Wasn’t Meant To Be,” the latest single off their new album Memory of a Day. “A couple of years ago, we went up to rural Oregon to write and came up with the concept of relationships that bring you down, cause you pain, and draw out the worst in each other. However, despite all of that, there is still a deep attachment and devotion that keeps you together even though it’s killing you both.”

AVA MAX – “SPOT A FAKE”
Ava Max has a knack for super infectious pop songs that heavily echo ’80s synthpop and ’90s Eurodance, and new single “Spot A Fake” is another instantly-satisfying one.

ST. VINCENT – “HOMBRE ROTO”
St. Vincent is releasing a Spanish language version of her new album All Born Screaming. Todos Nacen Gritando is due out on November 15 via Total Pleasure/Virgin, and she’s shared the first single, “Hombre Roto,” aka “Broken Man.” “The origins of Todos Nacen Gritando can be traced back to some of the most memorable shows I’ve ever played, in Mexico, South America and recently Primavera Barcelona in 2023,” she says. “Though separated by time and geography, and across a diverse range of settings and venues, these crowds were united in their passion—singing every word to every song in perfect English. It was truly inspiring. Eventually, I asked myself: If they can sing along in a second or third language, why can’t I meet them halfway? So I enlisted my best friend and occasional collaborator Alan Del Rio Ortiz to work on translating these lyrics, tweaking here and there for melodic reasons, making every effort to stay true to the song at hand without sacrificing accuracy. After much rewriting and re-singing every vocal track on the album, the result is Todos Nacen Gritando, equal parts labor of love and tribute to the people who inspired it.”

DJ KOZE FEAT. ARNIM TEUTOBURG-WEISS & THE DÜSSELDORF DÜSTERBOYS – “WIE SCHÖN DU BIST”
DJ Koze and Arnim Teutoburg-Weiß (aka arnim) have released this tribute to German soul singer Holger Bieg. “Wie schön du bist” samples Bieg’s 1978 song Bleib doch.

UV-TV – “PALE BLUE ISLAND”
NYC band UV-TV will release The Optimistic Wrench on October 11. “Pale Blue Island” is big, dreamy and cinematic.

KAVINSKY, ANGÈLE, PHOENIX – “NIGHTCALL”
Phoenix‘s guest-filled performance during the Olympics closing ceremony netted a surprise viral hit when they brought out fellow French group Kavinsky to perform new version of “Nightcall” with them at the ceremony, that also featured Belgian pop star Angèle. The three artists have now released a studio version of the updated “Nightcall.” Thomas Mars and Angèle both contribute vocals, and it was produced and performed by Phoenix and Kavinsky.

BON IVER – “SPEYSIDE”
Justin Vernon has announced a new Bon Iver EP, SABLE, which finds him stripping back down to his solo acoustic roots. Read about lead single “SPEYSIDE” here.

Ice-T‘s long-running rap-metal band Body Count are releasing their new album Merciless on November 22, and one of its songs is a reworked version of Pink Floyd‘s “Comfortably Numb” featuring Pink Floyd’s own David Gilmour on guitar. Read more here.
