So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
HALSEY – “LUCKY”
Halsey taps into Y2K-era pop with “Lucky,” which samples/interpolates Britney Spears’ 2000 hit of the same name as well as Monica’s 1997 hit “Angel Of Mine.” Also, Alex G is one of the song’s co-producers.

STAR BANDZ – “CUT THROAT”
Rising Chicago rapper STAR BANDZ put out her breakthrough single “Yea Yea” earlier this year, just announced a tour supporting Veeze this week, and now she keeps the momentum going with a hard-hitting new track, “Cut Throat.”

AMYTHYST KIAH – “PLAY GOD AND DESTROY THE WORLD”
Amythyst Kiah has announced a new album, Still + Bright, due October 25 via Rounder Records. It was produced by Butch Walker; features collaborations with S.G. Goodman, Billy Strings and Avi Kaplan; and features co-writes with Rancid’s Tim Armstrong, Sadler Vaden (of Jason Isbell’s 400 Unit), and Sean McConnell; and S.G. Goodman is on the powerhouse lead single “Play God and Destroy the World.”

TOKiMONSTA – “CORAZÓN / DEATH BY DISCO PT 2”
TOKiMONSTA has announced a new album, Eternal Reverie, due November 22 via Young Art. Along with the announcement comes a new thumping dance song infused with a Brazilian vocal sample. “After an inspiring vinyl dig in Brazil, this song became a tribute to the vibrant roots of dance culture,” TOKiMONSTA says.

DJ PREMIER – “YA DON’T STOP” (ft. LIL WAYNE, RICK ROSS & BIG SEAN)
DJ Premier helped define the sound of boom bap as we know it, and his influence is still felt today. For “Ya Don’t Stop,” he brings his classic style to a song with Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, and Big Sean.

MUSTARD – “PRESSURED UP” (ft. VINCE STAPLES & SCHOOLBOY Q)
Vince Staples and ScHoolboy Q each released one of our favorite albums of 2024 so far, so needless to say, we’re excited to now hear them team up for a song together. It’s on the new album Faith of a Mustard Seed from producer Mustard, who’s also fresh off producing Kendrick’s “Not Like Us” beat.

RAVYN LENAE – “ONE WISH” (ft. CHILDISH GAMBINO)
Ravyn Lenae has shared a new neo-soul-leaning collaboration with Childish Gambino from her upcoming album Bird’s Eye.

SHUTUPS – “FRIENDS FOR LIFE” & “PERFECT HAIR PERFECT TEETH”
Shutups hail from California, but they sound more like the punky side of the Ohama/Saddle Creek scene (Cursive, Desaparecidos, etc) on this appealing new two-song single for Jealous Butcher Records.

SPRING SILVER – “THE UTILITY MODELS”
Spring Silver will release a new album, don’t you think it’s strange?, on August 23, and new single “The Utility Models” is out today. According to a press release, Spring Silver (aka K Nkanza) “spent the last decade+ in the DC scene, gaining the approval and pseudo-mentorship of legends like Ian MacKaye, Chris Richards, and Kim Coletta,” and you can definitely hear those classic Dischord vibes coming through on this song.

ALIX PAGE – “GIRLFRIEND”
Southern California singer-songwriter Alix Page has shared her first new music of the year, which she co-wrote with Andy Seltzer and Lucy Healey. “‘Girlfriend’ is about the early stages of meeting someone new, trying to play it cool and absolutely failing,” she says. “Around the time I wrote it I felt like I was in high school again; already planning out our future, writing in a diary, making playlists, and hoping they were thinking about me the same way I was thinking about them. I really wanted to capture how sweet and silly and kind of embarrassing having a good ol’ fashioned capital C crush feels, especially so soon after meeting them.”

BABYFACE RAY – “RUBBERBAND MAN”
Detroit rapper Babyface Ray has confirmed that a new album is on the way, and it’ll include the sinister trap of “Rubberband Man.”

BOYS NOIZE – “FVKVRVND”
Ahead of next weekend’s HARD Summer Music Festival, Boys Noize shared the studio version of club-ready live favorite “FVKVRVND.”

SOMETHING CORPORATE & ANDREW MCMAHON IN THE WILDERNESS – “HAPPY”
Something Corporate have shared their second new song since reuniting, and like the last one, it’s being co-released with singer Andrew McMahon’s solo band. “There’s something in the message of ‘Happy’ and in its lyrical and aesthetic ties to Southern California that always made it feel like a Something Corporate song,” Andrew says. “I’m glad I held it back from the last Wilderness record and that it ended up at home in the studio with Brian, Will, Josh and Clutch.”

ERIKA DE CASIER & NICK LEÓN – “BIKINI”
After debuting it live at Primavera earlier this summer, Erika de Casier and Nick León have now shared their new collaborative single, “Bikini,” a swirling melting pot of dance beats, airy R&B vocals, clattering percussion, and more.

KENNYHOOPLA – “ONE TULIP//”
KennyHoopla has shared a new single, “ONE TULIP//.” He produced this one himself, rather than working with frequent collaborator Travis Barker, but the blink-182 influence still comes through loud and clear.

SHOW ME THE BODY & ZULU – “NATION OF MIND”
Show Me The Body are probably more “hardcore-adjacent” than hardcore, but their new guest-filled EP CORPUS II EP I dropped today, and this collaboration with LA hardcore band Zulu finds them dropping up a straight-up hardcore banger.

SERJ TANKIAN – “JUSTICE WILL SHINE ON”
System Of A Down’s Serj Tankian is releasing an EP called Foundations on September 27 via Gibson Records. It features new recordings of unreleased songs that he wrote throughout his career, and this new one sounds like it could’ve been a SOAD song.

TRENTEMØLLER – “NIGHTFALL”
Trentemøller has shared another song from his upcoming album Dreamweaver
that’s out September 13. “Nightfall” is gauzy, dark dreampop.

THE CLIENTELE – “STILL CORRIDOR”
The Clientele have shared “Still Corridor,” a song that original appeared on the b-side of a vinyl single for “Clair’s Not Real” from last year’s I Am Not There Anymore. It is as wistful and delicate as you would expect.

KATE PIERSON (B-52S) – “EVIL LOVE”
“Sometimes evil love is the only love you need,” says The B-52s’ Kate Pierson, who calls this song “A not so true tale of obsessive possessiveness and righteous revenge.” She adds, “I started out writing a song with the amazing Bleu McAuley with the idea of a song about forgiveness; but when our creative chemistries collided, the result was a noir thriller of a song set on the coast of Maine. And it’s one hell of a storm.” Solo album Radios & Rainbows will be out in September.

NAVY BLUE – “LOW THRESHOLD”
Navy Blue will release his new project Memoirs In Armour next week, and here’s the great lead single “Low Threshold.” Read more here.
