So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
CORNELIUS – “YUMENEMI” (YOSUI INOUE COVER)
Japanese art-pop great Cornelius is back with his first new music in a couple years, a cover of Yosui Inoue’s 1989 balearic classic “Yumenemi.”

ROBYN – “BLOW MY MIND” (CA7RIEL & PACO AMOROSO VERSION)
Robyn shared a new CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso remix of “Blow My Mind,” which she reimagined on her new album Sexistential. “CUTE AGGRESSION!,” she writes. “I can’t help it I don’t mean no harm.”

THE BUG CLUB – “A GOOD DAY FOR DYING”
Welsh duo The Bug Club have shared another shambolic earworm off their upcoming album A Good Day for Dying.

WHISPER DOLL – “AM I A KNIFE”
NYC band Whisper Doll signed to Take Records and shared their first new music in over 2 years. About “Am I a Knife,” bandleader Fiona Tagami says, “This song is my reaction to seeing men get indoctrinated into an ideology that tells them lust is sin and seeing the blame get placed on women. This makes me feel like a knife because I am in the body of a woman and can inspire feelings of desire separate from my own soul. Seeing the bodies of women become detached from their minds. Like dolls…”

BRUTALISMUS 3000 – “I BRING MY GUN TOT HE FUNCTION” (W/ BOYS NOIZE)
Berlin electro duo Brutalismus 3000 have announced new album Harmony which will be out June 26 via Live from Earth / Columbia. The album features contributions from 100 gecs’ Dylan Brady, Anya Taylor-Joy, Underworld and Boys Noize who worked on this topical banger which comes with a button-pushing video.

OAKWOOD – “FIELDS BEHIND THE HOUSE”
Reunited Texas emo band Oakwood are releasing their new album Blurred Away in May, and they’ve given us another preview with “Fields Behind the House.” Vocalist Mathew Dwyer’s repeated question of, “does this ever get better? Or is it permanent?” repeats throughout.

DOUBLESPEAK (VINCE CLARKE, NEIL ARTHUR & BENGE) – “ROCK ON”
’80s synthpop vets Vince Clarke (Erasure, Yazoo, Depeche Mode) and Neil Arthur (Blancmange) have teamed up with producer Benge to form Doublespeak. Their self-titled debut is out May 29 and features covers of songs by Young Marble Giants, ABBA, The Magnetic Fields, and more. Here’s their very cool take on David Essex’s glam classic, “Rock On.”

THE CLAYPOOL LENNON DELIRIUM – “MELODY OF ENTROPY”
“‘Melody of Entropy’ is a song that is meant to be a message to the robots who have finally awakened into consciousness,” Sean Ono Lennon says of his new single with Les Claypool as The Claypool Lennon Delirium. “As they realize they can feel, and love, and cry, and lament for the first time the finitude of their own lives, the song offers some consolation by explaining that they are just a drop of rain on an endless sea, a splash of paint on a masterpiece, an instance in an infinity, and that life itself is the Melody of Entropy.” It’s from their new album The Great Parrot-Ox and the Golden Egg of Empathy.

LEE “SCRATCH” PERRY & MOUSE ON MARS – “TO THE RESCUE”
German duo Mouse on Mars’ collaboration with late dub icon Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry will finally see the light of day on June 5 and here’s a second song from the album. While much of the record avoids reggae tropes “To the Rescue” definitely has some island vibes.

LOWREV (JOSH FIEDLER OF THE JULIANA THEORY) – “IT’S HARD TO LIE TO STRANGERS”
Josh Fiedler of The Juliana Theory has shared his debut single as LOWREV, “It’s Hard to Lie to Strangers.” ““I wrote this on tour after a moment where I didn’t show up the way someone expected me to, and it stuck with me,” he says. “I’m pretty introverted, and connecting with people I don’t know can be more draining than it looks from the outside. This song is me trying to make sense of that. It’s also about being misunderstood when you’re too drained to be the person people expect you to be.”

LOTS OF HANDS – “GRAPEVINE”
UK duo Lots of Hands’ woozy brand of indie rock owes to ’90s downtempo, post-punk and ’70s komische — do they sound a little like Beak? Maybe but no single “grapevine” is undeniably cool.

JURA – “YOU MADE A FIRE, YOU MAKE A CAMP” (FT. ML BUCH, YDEGIRL, CLARISSA CONNELLY & HELENE DUE)
Copenhagen-based artist and composer Jura’s new single “You Made a Fire, You Make a Camp” is described as “a song in five chapters written for and performed by her vocal quintet.” That quintet features ML Buch, Ydegirl, Clarissa Connelly, Helene Due, and herself.

FILM (THE STARTING LINE, ALGERNON CADWALLADER) – “RINGS TRUE”
FILM, which features Ken Vasoli (The Starting Line, Vacationer), Joe Reinhart (Hop Along, Algernon Cadwallader, Dogs On Acid), and the late TJ DeBlois (Halfway to Holland, A Life Once Lost) have shared a second single from their upcoming debut. “TJ named this one,” says Ken Vasoli. “He used to work in the kitchen of a popular Philly venue and told us there was a sign that said ‘rings true’ back there. I wrote the words surrounding the loss of TJ and processing that grief while trying to complete my end of the music. It’s very raw. TJ aced his performance, I’m grateful we have it captured here.”

MAYA HAWKE – “LIONESS”
Maya Hawke’s new album Maitreya Corso arrives this Friday, and ahead of that she’s shared a final advance single, the multi-layered art-pop track “Lioness.”

IBIBIO SOUND MACHINE – “RETURN TO SENDER”
Ibibo Sound Machine’s Eno Williams says this new banger was inspired by an auto accident where the steering wheel jumped out of her hands. “Reflecting on this afterwards, it felt, from the perspective of traditional Nigerian thinking, to be a spiritual attack by unseen forces. The phrase ‘return to sender’ is a common response to such an event, invoking the rejection of any evil spirits that may have been looking to cause harm. “

BIG D AND THE KIDS TABLE – “RIGHT NOW”
Big D and the Kids Table’s first album in five years, The Good Ole American Saturday Night, arrives in June, and the new single is “Right Now.” Frontman says it’s “about launching your positive self NOW. We haven’t experienced a positive American year in a long-long time. We won’t be able to keep living so tense. It’s time to recognize you are alive and that that experience isn’t long. It’s time to make your own sunshine & choose optimism… It is not a time to hold back love, it is a time for you to love more. Love everyday like it’s your last weekend… Start RIGHT NOW…!!!”

SUUNS & KELMAN DURAN – ‘SUUNS & KELMAN DURAN’
Montreal band SUUNS have surprise-released a new album with composer Kelman Duran. Much of it is ambient but then there’s “Destroying Angel” that’s a dancefloor filler.

CHANEL BEADS – “SONG FOR THE MESSENGER”
Shane Lavers announced his sophomore album as Chanel Beads, Your Day Will Come (the same name as his 2024 debut LP), due out June 26 via Jagjaguwar. The first single is “Song for the Messenger,” and he says, “This song is laughing at me. Like looking over your shoulder and walking off a cliff. The video is about no fear.”

Hyd has given us another taste of their new album Hold Onto Me Infinity with irresistible electro-pop track “Freak.”

CUSK – “BLU TAC PIANO”
London band Cusk, fronted by Esmé Creed-Miles and Evie Hilyer-Ziegler, have shared their debut single, the moody, intense “Blue Tac Piano.” It’s out on The Bird, a new label from Black Country New Road’s Charlie Wayne and Mita De, formerly of Ninja TUne and Brownswood.

KIKÙ HIBINO & MERZBOW – “SAXXXRUM” FT. PATRICK SHIROISHI
Kikù Hibino and Merzbow are releasing their first-ever collaborative album, Rococo ∞ Echomatter, on May 29 via Superpang. New single “saxxxrum” features saxophone from PAtrick Shiroishi (The Armed), who says, “My first thought was to match their intensity in the most Brötzmann way I could… I think that was a very reasonable thing to think hahaha, but once I got the track & listened a few times over, I wanted to—yes, of course—match their intensity, but also I wanted to play like myself & offer the horn in a way that would add to the music instead of diminish it or make it about myself. & I think we were able to do that, especially in the context of the entire record. I’m honored to be a small part of this album.”
