So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
MIIKE SNOW – “I WAS A SAILOR”
Swedish group and songwriting hitmakers Miike Snow are back with their first new music in eight years. “I Was a Sailor” features jazzy drumming, flute and a kids choir — what more do you need?

SUBLIME – “FEEL LIKE THAT”
Sublime have released their first new song in 28 years (not counting Sublime With Rome), and it grew out of a recording made with the late Bradley Nowell in 1996 and features vocals recorded by Bradley that year. It also features vocals by the band’s current lead singer, Bradley’s son Jakob, as well as Stick Figure’s Scott Woodruff.

PINKPANTHERESS – “TURN IT UP”
PinkPantheress says she’s been “sitting on” her new single “Turn It Up” “for a while.” It follows last year’s Heaven Knows and is her first new music of 2024.

ZACH BRYAN – “PINK SKIES”
The prolific Zach Bryan has shared a new single, and it’s a somber folk song with some Neil Young/Bob Dylan-esque harmonica and harmonies from Watchhouse (fka Mandolin Orange).

BECKY HILL – “TRUE COLOURS” FT. SELF ESTEEM
UK artist Becky Hill releases her new album, Believe Me Now?, on May 31 via Astralwerks, and Self Esteem features on the new single, “True Colours.” “As a huge fan of Becky it was an honour to hop on such an important track,” Self Esteem says. “We share a desire to turn these negative experiences into one of teaching and catharsis. ‘True Colours’ is another opportunity for both.”

RAUW ALEJANDRO – “TOUCHING THE SKY”
Reggaeton giant Rauw Alejandro seems to be inching towards a new album, and he just dropped a new synthpop-infused song, “Touching the Sky.”

JAMES VINCENT MCMORROW – “THINGS WE TELL OURSELVES”
James Vincent McMorrow’s new album Wide Open, Horses, comes out on June 14 via Nettwerk, and he’s shared an early taste, “Things we tell ourselves.” “This is a big one for me,” he writes, “playing it on guitar it’s this incredibly simple thing I used to sing to myself at a time when I definitely needed its help.”

BIZARRAP & LISMAR – BZRP MUSIC SESSIONS #60 & “SUBIÓ LA TEMPERATURA”
Bizarrap teams up with rising Dominican rapper Lismar for two new tracks, and both are pretty great electro-Latin-rap songs.

FLO – “CAUGHT UP”
Following their March single “Walk Like This,” FLO have unveiled another new track, “Caught Up.” “It’s very simple,” they say, “we are not going to lose ourselves going crazy over a guy, if you get caught up, it’s a simple bye bye. We know our worth and ‘Caught up’ is a friendly reminder that we are not to be played with.”

CARLY COSGROVE – “FLUFF MY PILLOW”
Philly indie-emo band Carly Cosgrove have shared the second single from their anticipated sophomore album The Cleanest of Houses Are Empty, and singer/guitarist Lucas Naylor says the song “puts a spin on lethargy by portraying it in an enticing way. The narrator justifies their inaction, treating their isolation and sleep as if it’s a drug or a temptation.”

JOHANNA SAMUELS – “A LITTLE LONGER”
Johanna Samuels has a new EP on the way, First and the Last, due out June 21 via JBR, and the first single is “A Little Longer.” “The song was written during a sustained period of time during which there was a lot of sitting in the unknown,” she tells GoldFlakePaint. “I felt in the dark in many ways. My heart felt like it was tossed in the air and wouldn’t land for a little over a year. It brought up countless opportunities to hone the skill of re-centering and letting go of control. Jordan Lehning and I wrote this song together quickly a few weeks before recording and both agreed immediately that “Revolver” was our go-to sound pallet to emulate… songs never turn out exactly like what you’re paying homage to because we’re all unique. I love that.”

SCHOOL DRUGS – “FEEL LIKE SHIT”
NJ hardcore band School Drugs, who just announced that they’ll be going on tour with Slapshot, Ignite, and Death by Stereo, have also now just announced a new EP, Disposition, due June 14. Here’s lead single “Feel Like Shit.”

BAD GYAL – “PERDIÓ” (ft. IVY QUEEN)
Spanish singer Bad Gyal taps Puerto Rican reggaeton veteran Ivy Queen for an instantly-satisfying new reggaeton banger.

THE HIVES – “HOOKED ON A FEELING” (BLUE SWEDE COVER)
Swedish rock gods The Hives are high on believin’ with this cover of AM gold classic “Hooked on a Feeling” (a hit for BJ Thomas in 1973 and Blue Swede in 1974) which they recorded for Spotify’s Singles Series. “I think there’s a synergy effect of Swedish music having made it abroad, and you feel like it’s possible,” says Howlin’ Pelle Almqvist. “We can’t make it more perfect than the original is, so we went the other way instead: ruined it but made it sound exciting”

JOE GITTLEMAN – “HOLD UP”
Former Mighty Mighty Bosstones bassist (and Avoid One Thing vocalist) Joe Gittleman has shared the second single/title track off his upcoming solo album for Bad Time Records, Hold Up. It’s a chill, ska/reggae song led by Joe’s recognizably gritty voice.

MAIYA THE DON – “FRENZY”
Brooklyn rapper Maiya the Don goes in over a booming beat from NOC and Dopeboyz Muzik.

BROKEN HEARTS ARE BLUE – “BECAUSE I AM” (2024 REMASTER)
Detroit emo vets Broken Hearts Are Blue are reissuing their 1997 debut LP The Truth About Love on June 28 via Sweet Cheetah Records and Poptek Records, and they’ve just shared the remastered version of “Because I Am,” a song Braid also once covered.

New Brunswick, NJ emo band Ogbert the Nerd have shared a shouty new anthem, “For Posterity.”

LEAVING TIME – “WISH”
Jacksonville, Florida’s Leaving Time have entered the grungegaze chat with “Wish.”

CASH COBAIN – “GRIPPY” (ft. J. COLE)
After exiting the Kendrick/Drake beef, J. Cole returns with a verse on Cash Cobain’s “Grippy.”

THE CHAMELEONS – “WHERE ARE YOU?”
It’s the first taste of post-punk greats The Chameleons’ first album since 2001.
