So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
H31R (JWORDS + MAASSAI) – “DOWN DOWN BB” (ft. QUELLE CHRIS)
Experimental Brooklyn rapper maassai and New Jersey producer JWords are releasing a collaborative album as H31R (pronounced “heir”), Headspace, on November 17 via Big Dada. Its latest single is the alluring “Down Down Bb” with Quelle Chris.

CHARMER – “ROSE THORNS”
Michigan emo band Charmer have shared moody, driving new song via Counter Intuitive Records, ahead of their tour with Free Throw and Prince Daddy & the Hyena.

MAUL – “THE SACRED AND THE PROFANE / HOVERING, SINKING”
North Dakota death metallers Maul are following last year’s Seraphic Punishment with a three-song cassette, Desecration and Enchantment, on November 18 via 20 Buck Spin. The digital version features just two of the songs, and here’s the especially nasty-sounding lead single.

CHARLY BLISS – “I NEED A NEW BOYFRIEND”
Charly Bliss’ new single comes with a dating profile generator. “I think the best breakup songs are celebratory,” Eva Hendricks says. “Thankfully, decades of dating the wrong people has prepared me to write the emo, palm-muted breakup song of my dreams. I was in Australia when Dan had the idea for this video, so we had to create a fictional Bliss Bar where we could all be together for Speed Dating Night. I bought the entire clay aisle of our local craft store and had a lot of fun creating a miniature version of the set that we could all be green screened into. SPLITKNUCKLE – “GUTTER THOUGHTS”
UK death-metallic hardcore band Splitknuckle will release Breathing Through The Wound in 2024 via DAZE, and here’s the brutally heavy lead single “Gutter Thoughts.”

HAZEL ENGLISH – “HEARTBREAKER”
After releasing a Goo Goo Dolls cover in March, Hazel English has shared a new original song, wry indie pop track “Heartbreaker,” which she co-wrote with regular collaborator Day Wave.

MAKEWAR – “NOT TODAY”
MakeWar are back with a ragged, anthemic new punk song.

ERNEST RAREBERRG – “CHROMATIC FANTASY, AND FEUD”
Brooklyn-based artist followed his June single “Blimp” with lo-fi rocker “Chromatic Fantasy, and Feud.”

KIND BEAST (ex-SMALL BROWN BIKE, THOUGHTS OF IONESCO) – “RIDE THE SNAKE”
Kind Beast’s lineup includes Sean Madigan Hoen (Thoughts Of Ionesco), Dan Jaquint (Small Brown Bike), Sean Bondareff (Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels), and Martin Rogers, and their new album Dirty Realism comes out December 8 via Don Giovanni. Here’s the mid-tempo rock of “Ride the Snake.”

HARMONY – “YESTERDAY”
Girlpool’s Harmony Tividad released her debut solo Ep, Dystopia Girl, in August, and she’s following it with another new single, alt-pop track “Yesterday.”

Kid Cudi continues teasing his new album INSANO with “ILL WHAT I BLED,” which Cudi says “is not the 2nd single yall, just a lil goodie from the album while u wait.”

KHRUANGBIN – “PEOPLE EVERYWHERE” (SHIFTING SANDS REMIX) [LIVE AT SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE]
Khruangbin have announced Khruangbin: Live at Sydney Opera House, a double LP that will be out December 1 via Dead Oceans. It’s the final release in a year-long series of five live albums and documents the trio’s three-night 2022 run at the iconic Australian venue.

POLE — “STECHMÜCK” (SLEAFORD MODS REWORK)
Pole, aka German electronic artist Stefan Betke,has a new EP on the way featuring remixes and reworks of songs from his album Tempus, featuring contributions from Rrose, Alessandro Cortini and Sleaford Mods who have done a number on “Stechmück.” Says Stefan, “I have been listening to Sleaford Mods’ music for many years. I saw them live a long time ago and they left something in my brain: the straight political attitude, the music and the energy they create blows my mind. To hear Jason ‘talk’ about real life makes my day, and Andrew’s solo work is outstanding. Sleaford Mods have long been my dream team to collaborate with, and now it happened!” Tempus Remixes is out November 24 via Mute.

DURAN DURAN & MÅNESKIN’S VICTORIA DE ANGELIS – “PSYCHO KILLER” (TALKING HEADS COVER)
Here’s another track of Duran Duran’s upcoming Haloween-themed record Danse Macabre. Victoria de Angelis of outrageous Italian rock band Måneskin helps out on this cover of Talking Heads’ classic which turns it into more of a sleek disco number.

It’s the latest anthemic and hummable single from Future Islands’ seventh ablum.

CHELSEA WOLFE – “WHISPERS IN THE ECHO CHAMBER”
Chelsea Wolfe announced her seventh album, She Reaches Out To She Reaches Out To She (pre-order our exclusive translucent berry vinyl variant), and shared the second single, which you can read more about here.

WATER FROM YOUR EYES – “CRUSHED BARLEY”
Water from Your Eyes have announced Crushed by Everyone, a full-album rework of this year’s Everyone’s Crushed, which will be out November 17 via Matador. Curated by the band’s Rachel Brown and Nate Amos, the album features reworks, remixes and covers of the album’s songs by Mandy Indiana, The Dare, Nourished by Time, and more. This is the band’s own rework of “Barley.”

LIP CRITIC – “IT’S THE MAGIC”
NYC band Lip Critic’s first single for Partisan Records is bruising dance-rock, with one foot in hardcore and the other in nervy new wave.

COCO – “MYTHOLOGICAL MAN”
NYC trio Coco have been around the block, with Maia Friedman, Oliver Hill, and Dan Molad having spent time over the years in Dirty Projectors, Pavo Pavo and Lucius, respectively. The band released their debut album in 2021 and will return with its follow-up on March 1 and this is the lush first single.
