So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
NADA SURF – “SECOND SKIN”
Nada Surf’s new album Moon Mirror is out today (read our review) and they’ve just shared the video for its opening song. Matthew Caws says “Second Skin” is “about trying to be natural, how it can be a struggle at times, how there might be periods when you feel there’s part of yourself that you want to hide. It’s also about the way that can change over time. There were times in my youth when being fully seen, or even just more seen, would have felt too uncomfortable. Certainly when you’re really young, you need to be able to tell older people when you have a need or when you’re in distress, so they can help you. But I’ve found as I’ve gotten older that some alarm systems have been shutting themselves off. Maybe at some point your body doesn’t believe you’re so vulnerable anymore, that there’s no more danger, that you can just enjoy, because you’ve made it ok this far.”

SHOW ME THE BODY – “STOMACH” FT. HIGH VIS
Ahead of their “Corpus Grows” tour, Show Me The Body have announced a new EP, Corpus II EP II, due out on September 27 via Corpus. Propulsive ew single “Stomach” features their soon-to-be tourmate High Vis.

DURAN DURAN – “NEW MOON (DARK PHASE)”
Duran Duran have shared a new version of their Seven & The Ragged Tiger hit “New Moon on Monday” which is from the deluxe edition of their Halloween-themed album Danse Macabre. That’s out October 11.

GLIXEN – “SICK SILENT”
Phoenix shoegazers Glixen continue gearing up for a new EP with a third heavy new single, “sick silent.” “We recorded ‘sick silent’ with Sonny Diperri in Juniper Hills, CA,” vocalist Aislinn Ritchie says. “‘sick silent’ is like a meadow in a dark forest, evoking feelings of temporality. There are currents of distortion and reverse reverb enveloped in adrenaline-inducing percussion and hard-hitting bass lines with vocals that shine through piercing layers of guitars giving a glimpse of the world that Glixen lives in.”

MC5 – “HEAVY LIFTING” (FT. TOM MORELLO)
MC5’s first album in five decades, Heavy Lifting, is out October 18 and the the title track, featuring Tom Morello, is out now. “I think ‘Heavy Lifting’ is a record which certainly fits very well into the excellence of the MC5 catalog,” says Morello. “It does stand as a testament to a lifetime of rock and roll greatness.”

THE WEEKND – “DANCING IN THE FLAMES”
The Weeknd officially announced Hurry Up Tomorrow, his new album, earlier this month, and he’s now given us an early taste with “Dancing in the Flames,” and its accompanying iPhone 16 Pro ad video.

MIYA FOLICK – “LA DA DA”
Miya Folick has shared her first new single since last year’s Roach. “I wrote ‘La Da Da’ in a period when I was actively pulling away from a pace of life that didn’t suit me,” she says. “I was slowing down, saying no, responding when I actually had an answer, and asking for the things I specifically desired rather than the things I thought I was supposed to want. I was turning things in late and taking my time to get them right.”

TEARS FOR FEARS – “THE GIRL THAT I CALL HOME”
Tears for Fears will release Songs From a Nervous Planet on October 25 which features a live album recorded in Franklin, TN and four studio recordings from The Tipping Point sessions. This is one of those studio cuts.

JOEY BADA$$ – “TELL ME” FT. CHLÖE
Boys Are Rolling, Grant Lapointe, and Larrance “Rance1500” Dopson produced Joey Bada$$’ sultry new single, his second collaboration with Chlöe.

PINKSHIFT – “KNEAD” (ILLUMINATI HOTTIES COVER)
The latest track from Hopeless Records’ Hopelessly Devoted To You 30th anniversary cover series features Pinkshift taking on Illuminati Hotties’ “Knead.” “Was so fun to work on this with Bartees Strange, tender punx rule the 🌎,” they write.

M. WARD – CRY (GODLEY & CREME COVER FT. FOLK BITCH TRIO
M. Ward’s new album For Beginners: The Best of M. Ward is out today and in addition to classics from throughout his discography is a new cover of Godley & Creme’s 1985 hit “Cry.” Says Ward: “‘Cry’ was recorded in a Tasmanian modern art museum called Mona. I sat at the end of a long hallway a few feet away from Anselm Kiefer’s sculpture of a 20-foot-high stack of lead books, and standing to my left and right around a single microphone were Melbourne’s Folk Bitch Trio; we rehearsed and recorded ‘Cry’ in about 30 minutes. A pleasure to add this song to a collection of some of my favorite memories of music-making during the first decade of record-creating with my friends at Merge.”

ARCA & TOKISHA – “CHAMA”
“This one’s for all the dolls, the queens, and the good little witches,” Arca says of her new collaboration with Tokischa, which she debuted at her Boiler Room set in Barcelona. “If I shine, it’s for us. Courage to all my butterflies in defending softness, tenderness, magic, and sweetness in a world full of hardness. Shine without fear, chamas. Yo adentro de ti tú adentro de mi.”

JOY OLADOKUN – “NO COUNTRY” & “I’D MISS THE BIRDS”
Joy Oladokun announced a new album, Observations From a Crowded Room, due out on October 18 via Amigo Records/Verve Forecase/Republic Records, and shared two singles, “No Country” and “I’d Miss the Birds.” “This album became a way for me to write things, feel things, process things,” she says. “Because, as the producer, I just had to sit with these songs for so long. It became really healing in a sense of, ‘I made this. I’m listening to an album that I genuinely love. All the sounds and bits and bobs came from me with the help of just an engineer.’ It was transformative. So, it started out as, ‘I quit,’ and it has ended up as a fresh start.”

JUNIORE – “MONUMENTAL”
Parisian band Juniore released their third album today and this psych-heavy, danceable new single and video.

UNDEROATH – “TEETH”
Ahead of their They’re Only Chasing Safety anniversary tour, Underoath have unveiled a new single, “Teeth.” “With our new track ‘Teeth,’ we dove into a pretty exciting territory for me—something I’ve always wanted to explore with this band but never felt was possible,” vocalist Spencer Chamberlain says. “It almost has a vibe reminiscent of classic hip-hop samples or something that Linkin Park might have done, which I find so cool. I never imagined we’d actually pull it off in an Underoath song, but it came together so naturally. Lyrically, the song puts you in a scenario of predator and prey, and in this case, I’m the prey. I’m challenging the other person to confront their cannibalistic nature, explaining to me what it feels like to tear through my life as I bleed out in front of them.”

THE OFFSPRING – “COME TO BRAZIL”
“Every time we announce any shows we get comments from our Brazilian fans saying ‘Come to Brazil!’ which we love!,” The Offspring’s Dexter Holland says of their new single. “Brazil really does go off. It has enthusiasm, passion and is an amazing place to play! I hope the Brazilian fans really make this one their own!” It’s from their new album Supercharged.

THE COURETTES – “KEEP DANCING”
Duo The Courettes will release The Soul Of…The Fabulous Corettes on September 27 and they’ve just shared a new single. “Keep Dancing” brings to mind Phil Spector’s ’60s productions and also tips its hat at Robyn.

POM POM SQUAD – “STREET FIGHTER”
Pom Pom Squad’s new album Mirror Starts Moving Without Me is out next month, and they’ve shared a third single from it, “Street Fighter.” ““When Cody [Fitzgerald] and I were messing around with this one we came across a synth patch that sounded like something straight out of Street Fighter!” Mia Berrin says. “Reconnecting with core-self / inner child is a throughline of the album and guided a lot of the writing process — Street Fighter II was one of my favorite games as a kid, so it felt like a fun direction to take the song in. I finished the lyrics and vocals on the same night at like 4am — I was delirious from being exhausted which resulted in some silly, goofy, lyrics. In general, my writing leans a bit more moody and serious so it’s a different side of me for sure!”

DUCKWRTH – “HAD ENOUGH”
Duckwrth addresses the impact of substance abuse on his relationships in his new single “Had Enough,” saying, “seeing the pain you inflict on someone else, how it affects them emotionally, the loss of trust—they can’t even be around you. That hurt makes you really want to look inward and better understand yourself.”

SPECIAL INTEREST – “NOTHING GROWS HERE”
New Orleans band Special Interest are back with their first new music since 2022’s Endure. “Nothing Grows Here” is an intense post-punk disco banger and singer Alli Logout says it’s about “stagnancy, over-stayed welcomes and the moment you decided to confront your complacency.”

FKA TWIGS – “EUSEXUA”
FKA twigs has announced new album which is titled Eusexua and will be out January 25 via Young. It will be her first in six years and she co-produced it with Koreless and Eartheater. Full details are still on the way but she has shared the title track and its video.
