So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. Powered by a sample of Three 6 Mafia’s “Jealous Ass Bitches,” married couple Offset and Cardi B team up for a song that feels like a direct response to all the tabloid drama surrounding their relationship.

SAWEETIE – “BIRTHDAY” (ft. YG & TYGA) & “SHOT O’CLOCK”
Saweetie’s debut album keeps getting pushed back, but meanwhile she just shared two new singles, “Birthday” (ft. YG and Tyga) and “Shot O’Clock.” “Birthday” sounds like a trip back to the early 2010s DJ Mustard era that birthed Tyga’s breakthrough single, and “Shot O’Clock” is a shouty, clappy rap anthem with a “Tom’s Diner” sample.

MICK JENKINS – “GUAPANESE”
The latest taste of Mick Jenkins’ The Patience is the chilled-out jazz-rap of “Guapanese.”

AHO SSAN – “TIL THE SUN DOWN” (ft. CLIPPING. & RESINA)
Aho Ssan will release new album Rhizomes on October 6 via Nicolas Jaar’s Other People label. It features Jaar, Moor Mother, Angel Bat Dawid, and more, and this noisy, seven-and-a-half minute single features alternative rap group clipping. alongside Polish cellist Resina.

DAEDELUS – “STARFIRE” (ft. R.A.P. FERREIRA)
Glitch hop vet Daedelus taps experimental rapper R.A.P. Ferreira for this head-trip of a new song.

GLOSS UP – “DON’T LIKE” (ft. BIGG BAGG QUEEZY)
Gloss Up’s new song “Don’t Like” doesn’t seem to have anything to do with the Chief Keef song, but it is a rap banger with some ominous production from Hitman PG.

SINAI VESSEL – “TANGLED”
Asheville’s Sinai Vessel has shared a new single, a lovely indie folk song called “Tangled.”

GRIMES – “I WANNA BE SOFTWARE”
Grimes has said that “music is my side quest now,” but she still shares non AI-generated music sometimes, including new electro-pop track “I Wanna Be Software,” which she produced with Illangelo.

VIC MENSA – “EASTSIDE GIRL” (ft. TY DOLLA $IGN”
Chicago rapper Vic Mensa and LA crooner Ty Dolla $ign team up for some bouncy, auto-tune-heavy, pop-rap.

BUBBLE TEA AND CIGARETTES – “ROOM 907”
Los Angeles-based pop duo Bubble Tea and Cigarettes have unveiled a new single for Lauren Records, the hushed, dreamy. wistful “Room 907.” It follows their 2022 debut LP There’s Nothing But Pleasure.

NASTY – “ROSES”
German metallic hardcore band Nasty have shared a bone-crushing new track off upcoming LP Heartbreak Criminals, due 9/8 via Century Media.

ELECTRIC PRESS – “GET AWAY”
Leeds punks have shared a gritty, heavy new single via TNSrecords.

HOLLY HUMBERSTONE – “SUPERBLOODMOON” FT. D4VD
Holly Humberstone releases her debut full-length album Paint My Bedroom Black in October, and she’s shared another single from it, alt-pop track “Superbloodmoon,” which features d4vd. “I had been a huge fan of d4vd’s work for about a year and was lucky enough to catch him whilst he was in London,” Holly says. “We went into the studio and wrote ‘Superbloodmoon’. It came pretty naturally as we had both been touring for what seemed like forever, and wanted to write about the feelings that come with leaving your home and the people you love behind. I had the title for the song on my notes, and it just stemmed from there. We wrote about witnessing the same thing from opposite sides of the world and feeling lonely but connected through that experience at the same time. I love the song and I’m so grateful to d4vd for bringing it to life with me.”

Electronic musicians TYNAN and SUAHN (aka Pianos Become The Teeth guitarist Mike York) have teamed up for two maximalist, abrasive tracks in the form of The Infinite Loop EP.

RABBIT – BARDO EP
Brooklyn’s Rabbit have followed last year’s buzzed-about Halo of Flies EP with another new EP, Bardo. It’s got five ragers that marry venomous hardcore barks to extreme metal riffage.

MAC KROL (MAC MCCAUGHAN / MIKE KROL) – “FAIR WARNING”
You may have already heard the A-side of this collab 7″ from Superchunk’s Mac McCaughan and Mike Kroll, well here’s the noisy, poppy B-side.

OSEES – “STUNNER”
“Matt Yoka came up with the idea of filming us playing the song in our rehearsal space with as many people as we could fit and as many formats as he could stomach,” say John Dwyer of the “Stunner” video. That included a drone. OSEES new album is out in August.
