So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. GRUPO FRONTERA – “OJITOS ROJOS” (ft. KE PERSONAJES)
Grupo Frontera have been everywhere this year, thanks to collaborations with Bad Bunny, Peso Pluma, and more, and today the norteño band return with the danceable “Ojitos Rojos.”

JAY ROCK – “TOO FAST (PULL OVER)” (ft. ANDERSON .PAAK & LATTO)
Jay Rock taps Anderson .Paak and Latto for something a little more party-friendly than recent single “Eastside.”

DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR – “MASTER OF NONE” & “SONIC REDUCER” (DEAD BOYS COVER)
Hardcore vets Death Before Dishonor have dropped a brash new track “about breaking the shackles of mental manipulation,” and it comes backed by a toughened-up cover of the Dead Boys’ classic “Sonic Reducer.”

DJ SLIINK & BANDMANRILL – “REAL HIPS 2”
Jersey club trailblazer Bandmanrill teams with DJ Sliink for the instantly-addictive “Real Hips 2.”

SPIRIT NIGHT – “SO LONG”
Spirit Night (the project led by former TWIABP member Dylan Balliett) will release new LP Bury the Dead on August 4, and new single “So Long” is a sweet-yet-gritty, jangly indie rock song with some Hüsker Dü/Sugar vibes.

CHIKA – “MAD”
Chika has shared another track in the leadup to her debut album Samson, and this one finds her spitting fire over a mix of triumphant horns and trap drums.

BYRON MESSIA & BURNA BOY – “TALIBANS II”
Saint Kittian artist Byron Messia’s 2023 album No Love birthed the breakout hit “Talibans,” and now that song gets a revamped rework with help from Afrobeats icon Burna Boy.

TINASHE – “TALK TO ME NICE”
Tinashe has a new album called BB/ANG3L on the way via Ricky Reed’s Nice Life Recording Company, and its new single “Talk To Me Nice” pairs her airy vocals with clattering production from electronic wiz Nosaj Thing and veteran hip hop producer Scoop DeVille (Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, etc).

HAILEY WHITTERS – “TIE’R DOWN”
Country singer Hailey Whitters’ new I’m In Love EP comes out next week (7/28), and here’s another song from it. Hailey says, “It’s no secret I grew up a kid on ‘90s country radio, and so when I went in one day to write with Rodney Clawson and Chris LaCorte, I was reminiscing about Trisha Yearwood’s song ‘XXX’s & OOO’s.’ I was thinking a lot about the way that song made me feel – strong and like I could do anything I set my mind to despite whatever barriers anyone or anything might put in my way. I wanted to write a song that made young girls growing up in today’s world feel that same feeling.”

SHA EK – “LIKE THIS”
Bronx rapper Sha Ek returns with a loud, brash, shout-rapped drill song in the form of “Like This.”

STAR 99 – “GIRL” & “SOUTH SECOND”
San Jose’s Star 99 are releasing Bitch Unlimited on August 4 via Lauren Records, and lead singles “Girl” and “South Second” are both sugary indie-punk songs that fans of anything from that dog. to Swearin’ should feast their ears on.

SLAYYYTER – “MISS BELLADONNA”
Slayyyter announced her sophomore album, STARFUCKER, due out via FADER on September 22, and shared a new single, extravagant pop track “Miss Belladonna.”

WILL.I.AM & BRITNEY SPEARS – “MIND YOUR BUSINESS”
will.i.am and Britney Spears are so 2000 and late on this collab, but alas, here it is.

SO MUCH HOPE, BURIED – “APPARITION”
Wilkes-Barre post-hardcore band So Much Hope, Buried are swinging for the fences on this soaring, melodic new song.

ANSEMLO RALPH – “SOLA” (ft. RICK ROSS & SOGE CULEBRA)
Angolan artist Anselmo Ralph taps Spanish artist Soge Culebra and Florida rapper Rick Ross for an appealing fusion of reggaeton, Afrobeats, and trap.

TAN COLOGNE – “VISITATION”
Taos duo are back with this ethereal new single out now via Labrador. As for the song’s origins, as you might expect, the band say, “‘Visitation’ was inspired by communications with otherworldly beings through envisioning crossing into unknown dimensions where other light beings teach and share through ancient ways. We wrote the song examining the experience of borderlands and the eternal exchange of pathways.”

MAINLAND BREAK – “PORTLAND”
Denver band Mainland Break have a jangly sound that will appeal to fans of R.E.M. and The Feelies that’s all over their new album One Way Ticket to Midnight. Check out album highlight “Portland.”

DARK TEA – “DAY BY DAY”
Dark Tea, the solo project of Gary Canino, is back with his first new music in a year, a synthy, poppy number titled “Day by Day.”

ROGER WATERS – “MONEY” (REDUX VERSION)
As you may have heard, whether the world needs this or not, Roger Waters has “reimagined” Pink Floyd‘s The Dark Side of the Moon. Just how “reimagined” is this? More than you might think. He’s shared his version of “Money,” which was originally sung by David Gilmour, and here gets a gravelly Tom Waits/Leonard Cohen rumpled suit makeover.

ULTRA DELUXE – “THE HUNTERS” & “THE ARGUMENT”
NYC’s Ultra Deluxe have just dropped a new EP called Quests with two new songs, “The Hunters” and “The Argument.” Read about it here.
