So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
SLEAFORD MODS FEAT. ALDOUS HARDING – “ELITEST G.O.A.T.” (THE PRODIGY ACID THUNDER REMIX)
Sleaford Mods’ appeared on The Prodigy’s last album and now the techno greats are returning the favor with this awesome remix of “Elitest G.O.A.T.” which features Aldous Harding. “Who could ask for more? A Prodigy Remix for Elitest G.O.A.T. that turns it into another tune entirely,” says Mods’ frontman Jason Williamson. “I can’t believe it. Added to that is Extnddntwrk’s under the sensor shift as well. Fuckin’ yes!”

KELELA – “IDEA 1”
Kelela seems to be teasing a new release; she’s cleared her social media accounts and shared a new single, “Idea 1,” that she wrote with Oscar Scheller and Janiva Ellis. She says it’s about “what it feels like to exist in this climate—the weight of being expected to witness, absorb, and speak truth at a time when the world feels like it’s unraveling. That’s a particular kind of burden Black women know intimately. This song doesn’t offer answers, it just refuses to look away. Co-writing it with my best friend Janiva Ellis, hearing Oscar’s production give it shape, and then watching 91 Rules bring that tension to life visually feels like the beginning of a much larger conversation I’m ready to have.”

JUST MUSTARD – “ENDLESS DEATHLESS” (DANIEL AVERY REMIX)
“Just Mustard are spearheading a wave of beautiful distortion coming out of Ireland right now – WE WERE JUST HERE was one of my favourite records of last year,” says Daniel Avery who has remixed this Just Mustard track. “I read an interview the band gave where they cited breakbeats as an influence on their music. That’s all I needed to hear. I’m excited for people to have this remix.”

DUA SALEH – “CÁLLATE”
“Cállate is about two lovers that the Of Earth & Wires album follows,” Dua Saleh says of the new single off their second album. “They’re surviving on a post-apocalyptic Earth. They feel rising tension as they reflect on the chaotic material environment surrounding them. Sometimes—in high-stress situations—lovers can crash out, but these two twin flames always find their way back home.”

THE LEMON TWIGS – “2 OR 3”
“We played for the first time in Buenos Aires last year and I woke up the next morning having dreamt the chorus,” Brian D’Addario says of The Lemon Twigs’ new single. “It’s a rare thing for me and even rarer that I end up remembering the words. I had to interpret what ‘she’s lived 2 or 3 as many lives as me’ meant. It made me think of a guy who wasn’t cultured or worldly enough for his girlfriend and had to pretend to be interested in fine art and history.” New album Look For Your Mind! is out May 8.

NARA’S ROOM – “LIZZIE MCGUIRE”
Nara’s Room’s sophomore album Tearless, thoughtless is out next month, and they’ve given us another early taste with “Lizzie McGuire.” ““I grew up thinking that my world of Lizzie McGuire, Michelle Branch, and frosted eye shadow would be that way forever, and I couldn’t wait to be an adult in that world.” Nara says. “But then everything changed.”

SUPERCHUNK – I DON’T WANT YOU ANYWAY (LOOK BLUE GO PURPLE COVER)
Say Superchunk’s Mac McCaughan of this cover: “One of my favorite NZ artists of all time was only around for a few years in the 80s but Look Blue Go Purple recorded some absolute classics in that time (& then went on to make more amazing stuff in the 3Ds, Chug, Cyclops, Olla and more!).” This was one side of a tour-only 7″ that has now hit streaming services.

HYD – “WATCH YOU CRY”
Hyd have given us another taste of their new album Hold Onto Me Infinity with the Alanis Morissette-quoting “Watch You Cry.” “Tears are a special interest of mine,” they say. “I love that the matter inside us is the same as the ocean. When I was working on this song I asked an astronaut who had returned from her first mission in space what it was like to cry in space and she said because of the surface tension, the tears collect around your eyes and it burns. You have to physically wipe them away and the molecules stay together in the air. They don’t drip or fall. I love thinking about suspended tears in space and the ocean below being held by gravity to earth. There is something about crying on earth where the liquid is returned upward. Where the tears evaporate on your hot face and go somewhere that then are returned again. I love being a part of this larger cycle.”

DILES QUE NO ME MATEN – “HIRIKU”
Mexico City band Diles que no me maten announced a new album, Escrito en Agua, due out June 12 via Moonlight Activities. About new single “Hiriku,” Jonás Derbez says, “‘Hiriku’ is a krautrock style song that speaks of the drifting of the soul and the possibilities of being everywhere just by traveling through the heart. The lyrics are inspired by the poem ‘Híkuri’ by Mexico’s José Vicente Anaya.”

CS CLEANERS – “WHAT’S THAT?”
Brookln’s CS Cleaners will release new album What’s This on June 26 via Wharf Cat. Appropriately enough, the album opens with a mutant punk number titled “What’s That?”

TOUCHÉ AMORÉ – “PALM DREAMS” (YOUTH CODE REMIX)
“When we first started shooting around ideas for what to include with this release, Nick Steinhardt had the idea to approach Youth Code to remix ‘Palm Dreams’ because the early demos had a pummeling and goth feel to it,” Touché Amoré say of the new single from their expanded edition of Stage Four, which arrives this Friday. “What they were able to do with our song blew our minds. We are so thrilled to share this with you.”

POND – “TWO HANDS”
Australia’s POND are back, having announce new album Terrestrials on June 19. New single “Two Hands” sounds like post-punky, glammy new wave from 1981 and comes with a video that owes a little bit to Mad Max.

GILT – “HOW DO YOU KILL AN ANGEL, BARRY?”
Florida “Nu Emocore” band GILT announced a new album, I Saw Myself in The Black Screen, due out June 26 via Smartpunk. About new single “How Do You Kill an Angel, Barry?,” vocalist Tyler Fieldhouse says, “Taking it’s name from cult-classic film Dogma where protagonist Bethany doesn’t realize she’s talking to the fallen angel she was sent to stop from destroying God, Barry is a song of rebellion, about biting the hand that feeds. Is God jealous of free will, even if we exercise it to hurt or kill ourselves? Underneath the Deftones-inspired drifty shoegaze vocals is a constantly noodling guitar and busy drumwork meant to evoke the incessant digital information feed in Serial Experiments Lain (the sound clip from the beginning), an anime which explores similarly bleak themes of social isolation, divinity, and suicide.”

ALEX CAMERON – “STATUE DOWN”
Speaking of Australia, Alex Cameron is back with his first new music in four years. He usually writes character portraits but “Statue Down” is blatantly political, as is the music video.

ALEX AMEN – “DIAMONDS”
Texas indie-folk artist Alex Amen has announced his debut album, Sun of Amen, which is out June 12 via ATO. Here’s the first single which sounds like something out of 1973. Nice.

DOUG GILLARD – “YES SHE LOVES ME”
Guided by Voices guitarist Doug Gillard has given us another taste of his new solo album Parallel Stride with “Yes She Loves Me.” “The music came together fairly quickly,” he told Rock and Roll Globe. “The lyrics and melody sort of gelled all at once very shortly after that. I didn’t really think about it too much, which isn’t always the case for me, especially lyrics.”

Tacoma garage punks Girl Trouble are back.

LYKKE LI – “SICK OF LOVE”
Lykke Li’s sixth album, The Afterparty, is out in May, and she’s given us another early taste with “Sick of Love.” “It’s this moment of complete humiliation, and you’re trying to be strong,” she says, adding, “I had a lot of fun writing these lyrics. I laughed a lot.”

SADIE – “BETTER ANGELS”
sadie shared the title track of her debut album, Better Angels, which is out next month. “This is the only song on the record that’s completely electronic, without an ‘acoustic’ element––but to me it feels like its heart,” she says. “I wrote it while I was experiencing a growing chasm between myself and someone I loved, and grappling with the realization that they had changed beyond recognition. It was also a time where I was feeling despair at the state of the world, and our increasing isolation from one another. Modern technology is a digital prison that removes us from the world, but sometimes I think it has the wonderful ability to create community and make you feel connected to people in far away places. So I loved the idea of the music video being a collage of internet clips…it feels both dystopian, strange, and beautiful all at once. Better Angels felt like a fitting album title. I think it asks us to consider hope––within ourselves and in each other.”

Teenage hardcore band XCOMM announced their debut album, and shared a new single, which you can read more about here.

OTOBOKE BEAVER – “I DON’T NEED TO BE IN YOUR STRIKE ZONE”
Otoboke Beaver haven’t released a record since 2022’s Super Champion and they’re clearly well aware of that: they’ve got a new maxi single on the way titled “Is The New Album Out Yet?” This is not the title track.

AMERICAN FOOTBALL – “NO FEELING” (FT. TURNSTILE’S BRENDAN YATES)
