So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
THE REDS, PINKS & PURPLES – “NEW LEAF”
Glenn Donaldson will release a new Reds, Pinks & Purples album later this year and while details of that are still TBA, he’s shared the first single which is quite lovely.

MATT BERNINGER – “BLUE MONDAY” (NEW ORDER COVER)
Matt Berninger covered New Order’s “Blue Monday” regularly during his 2025 solo tour, and now he’s shared a studio version.

SONDRE LERCHE – TURNING UP THE HEAT AGAIN EP
Sondre Lerche is putting the finishing touches to his 2022 album Avatars of Love but before that he’s dropped “a pallet cleanser before a bigger meal…it’s called Turning Up The Heat Again, and it contains three brand new songs that are exclusive to this release. They were written and recorded in the same breath as what’s to come, but for now this is what I want you to hear!”

PUSCIFER – “IMPETUOUS”
Normal Isn’t, Puscifer’s first album in over 5 years, arrives next month, and the latest single is “ImpetuoUs.” “I’m looking forward to hearing where this song takes people,” Maynard James Keenan says. “As the writers, we forget that in a way, we are carpenters and that we’ve been with this song since it was a pile of lumber. Our Perspective may differ from the final occupant of this space we’ve constructed. Shelter, Bridge or Gallows, Coffin? Curious to find out.”

KATIE ALICE GREER (EX-PRIESTS) – “EXPO 70”
Inspired by “the beautiful 1970 world’s fair,” this is the very dreamy new single from former Priests frontperson Katie Alice Greer.

MIRAH – “AFTER THE RAIN”
Mirah announced her first album in seven years, Dedication, due out February 20 via Double Double Whammy and Absolute Magnitude. About new single “After the Rain,” she says, “Turns out that I am the kind of person who can get almost nothing work-like done within the frame of a normal work-day but give me a week and I will write a whole album. I was at the house in San Gabriel and this song just flew out of me. It wouldn’t have flown out in between school drop off and school pick up, with a bunch of errands and e-mails to deal with in between. This song needed the mountains in the distance, the weird suburban quiet of the days, the familiar strangeness of sleeping in not my own bed, the not my life life. I find a lot of truth in times like that, when I am just listening to me. What a gift.”

BIG SPECIAL – “SLUGLIFE”
Birmingham, UK duo Big Special says new song “Sluglife” is “about living low to the ground and going slow. Feeling guilt for needing a bit of time to pull yourself up by your boot straps. It’s about working through the self hate that can come through hard times.”

ROSIE CARNEY – “SIXTEEN”
Irish singer-songwriter Rosie Carney releases her fourth album Doomsday… Don’t Leave Me Here next month, and she’s given us another early taste with “Sixteen.” “It’s a song about false starts, feeling lost and lonely, and realising I’m better off leaning on my sisters than some idiot who probably wouldn’t give a shit anyway,” she says. “It’s about making the right decision as opposed to the easiest one.”

DOG CHOCOLATE – “EMPLOYEE”
London indie punks Dog Chocolate new album So Inspired, So Done In which will be out March 27 via Upset the Rhythm. “Employee” is a shouty good time.

SASSY 009 – “SOMEONE”
Sassy 009’s debut album Dreamer+ is out next week, and she’s given us a final preview with distorted electro-pop track “Someone.”

SARAH NIXEY (BLACK BOX RECORDER) – “ON THIS WIDE NIGHT”
Sarah Nixey, cofounder of ’90s/’00s band Black Box Recorder, will release her fourth solo album, Sea Fever, on February 6. The icy cool she brought to BBR is still set to blast on “On This Wild Night.”

MX LONELY – “RETURN TO SENDER”
Mx Lonely’s debut album All Monsters arrives later this month, and the latest single is “Return to Sender.” Vocalist and syntheist Rae Haas says it’s “about trying to understand the other side of someone feeling indifference towards you. When this sentiment has been expressed to me in my life, it has the capability to send me into an absolute spiral – I would much rather have an unambiguous emotion, like hatred, directed towards me. It’s easier to process. This song was written off the dome, and was me trying to write from a viewpoint outside of my own head. The repeated phrase ‘Return to sender’ that makes up the chorus was an attempt to accept this outside perspective. If you know that your side of the street is clean, others’ opinions are not your burden to carry.”

Robyn officially announced her new album Sexistential, and gave us two more early tastes with the Max Martin co-written “Talk to Me” and the title track. Read more about them here.

JOE PERNICE – “THE BLACK AND THE BLUE”
Joe Pernice of The Pernice Brothers and Scud Mountain Boys has announced a new solo album, Sunny, I Was Wrong, which will be out April 3 via New West. The album was recorded live in the studio with a backing band of Jim Creeggan (Barenaked Ladies), Mike Belitsky (The Sadies), Mike Evin, and Mike McKenzie. It also features contributions from Aimee Mann, Teenage Fanclub‘s Norman Blake, Jimmy Webb, and Rodney Crowell. Here’s the first single.

BUTLER, BLAKE & GRANT – “LONELY NIGHT”
It’s the first single from the second collaborative album from Suede guitarist Bernard Butler, Teenage Fanclub‘s Norman Blake and James Grant (Love and Money).

“WE ARE LA”
Today (January 7) is the one-year anniversary of the Los Angeles wildfires that devastated Altadena, Pacific Palisades and other LA neighborhoods. To commemorate, folks from the punk community — including members of Minutemen, Go-Go’s, Social Distortion and more — got together to record a benefit single, “We Are LA,” with proceeds going to Sweet Relief.
