So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
PAPER CASTLES – “CONTENT CREATOR”
Vermont group Paper Castles will release new album I’m Sad as Hell and I’m Not Going to Fake It Anymore on May 13. “Content Creator” opens the album with nice VU-style chug.

CARMEN PERRY – “READJUST”
Carmen Perry of Remember Sports has announced her debut solo album, Eyes Like a Mirror, due out June 6 via Mtn Laurel Recording Co. New single “Readjust” is a soaring indie rock track. “I wrote ‘Readjust’ when I first moved to Philly almost ten years ago and had no idea what I wanted out of life,” Perry says, “but knew I wanted to try everything. When I hear it now I think of being young and aimless, with the confidence that the pieces of your life will fall into place no matter how badly you fuck up.”

VALERIE JUNE – “ENDLESS TREE”
Valerie June’s new album Owls, Omens, and Oracles is out this Friday, and she’s shared a final single ahead of its release, “Endless Tree.” “As we see so much divisiveness and polarization in the world, this song asks listeners if they are ready for a more harmonious and peaceful planet,” she says. “If what we focus on is what manifests, then, although we don’t always agree with each other, might it still be possible to respect our differences and grow together vs. creating wars? Trees have a secret language that connects them to each other. Without plants and trees, we couldn’t breathe. What can we learn from plants as teachers?”

HAYDEN PEDIGO – “LONG POND LILY”
Guitarist Hayde Pedigo has announced I’ll Be Waving As You Drive Away which will be out June 6 via Mexican Summer. “The low end is rattling on it,” Hayden says of “Long Pond Lily,” adding, “It sounds bonkers, and feels like it’s on the verge of going off the rails. It’s so maximalist, so much more energetic than anything I’ve ever written.”

BEN KWELLER – “KILLER BEE” FT. THE FLAMING LIPS
The latest single from Ben Kweller’s new album Cover the Mirrors is dedicated to Nell Smith, who passed away last year at the age of 17. “Nell was a gifted artist who marched to the beat of her own drum,” Kweller says. “Like my son Dorian, she was taken from us out of nowhere, driving alone, freak car accident, 17 years old. Amidst the chaos, Wayne [Coyne] connected me and Liz with Nell’s parents in hopes that we might be able to shed some light on their journey ahead. Since then, Liz and I have spent hours with Jude and Rachel getting to know each other and trying to make sense of it all. Though neither of us knew each other’s child, we’ve discovered how similar these two angels were during their time here on earth. Community is one of the only reasons Liz and I are still standing today. Grief makes us feel isolated and the weight seems too heavy to carry alone. Community reunites and lifts us up. Love on your people today and every day.”

CHARMER – “BLUE JAY”
We named Charmer’s last single one of the best punk songs of March, and now the Michigan emo band have shared another great taste of their anticipated new album.

RUTH RADELET, NAT WALKER AND ADAM MILLER (EX CHROMATICS) – “THE VEIL”
Former Chromatics members Ruth Radelet, Nat Walker and Adam Miller worked on the soundtrack to video game Lost Records: Bloom & Rage and “The Veil” is their first collaboration since their old band folded. “We wanted to create something that captured both the nostalgic ’90s aesthetic of the game’s flashback sequences,” says Nat who also edited the song’s music video, “and the ethereal, dreamlike quality that fans associate with our music.”

PORCHES – “SHIRT” & “LUNCH”
Porches shared an “Expansion Pack” for his 2024 album Shirt featuring two new tracks, “Shirt” And “Lunch,” both of which were mixed by Geoff Swan.

STEREOLAB – “AERIAL TROUBLES”
After some teasing and puzzles last week, Stereolab have now made it official: they’re releasing their first new album in 15 years. It’s called Instant Holograms On Metal Film and this is the excellent first single.

YEULE – “EVANGELIC GIRL IS A GUN”
yeule has unveiled the glitchy title track of their new album Evangelic Girl is a Gun. They say it’s “an angelic blade of a dance beat with dual bpm switch ups, nostalgic synth patches Kin and I alchemised together reminiscent of early 2010s electronica. In the light of love and obsession lies the silhouette of a shadow diluted with the playful flirting of synths and drum patterns, but this time with a sexy silhouette of a shadow. Going back to experimental dark techno, but aligning it with modern inclinations of what I want to label as ‘trip club.’ Eternal light, eternal love, depth of the heart with a shallow facade. Diluting the vanta black blood that boils on rotting flesh.”

LIDO PIMIENTA – “MANGO”
Lido Pimienta announced a new album, La Belleza, due out May 16 via ANTI-. She worked on it with Owen Pallett, and about new single “Mango,” she says, “‘Mango’ took me back to my territory, to nature, to my people, to my village, where I watched love unfold all around me. I’ve always had an aversion to writing love songs—especially if they’re about a man (insert barfing sound). But at the time, my love life was in a nebulous state: unrequited love, love from the past, love in the present—it was all I could think about. I resolved the hetero issue by keeping my love songs genderless. The sensuality is in the innuendo, in the nuance. I’m very proud of this song.”

BLEED – “ENJOY YOUR STAY” FT. STATIC DRESS
Dallas grungegazers Bleed have shared another track off their self-titled debut LP, “Bleed,” which features Static Dress. “‘Enjoy Your Stay’ is a prime example, in our opinion, of pushing our own envelope as a band,” they say. “We want to maintain aggression while not settling for a slower pace or easy licks. It’s undoubtedly a hard rock song at the core but in our own vision. It also further proves that every song on the record is pretty different from the others. We didn’t set out to accomplish that necessarily, however it’s just how it fell. It’s a testament to where we started as a band and where we are now.”

HOTLINE TNT – “JULIA’S WAR”
“You’ve never heard a TNT chorus this straightforward,” says Hotline TNT’s Will Anderson of the band’s first single from their new album. “When we stress-tested it during the writing process, the ‘try not to sing along challenge’ came back with a 100% fail rate.”
