So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
APOLLO BROWN & CRIMEAPPLE – “KNOW NO BETTER” & “COKE WITH ICE”
NJ rapper Crimeapple and the venerable underground rap producer Apollo Brown have announced a collaborative album, This, Is Not That, due December 6 via Mello Music Group. Two singles are out now, and they’re both great offerings of hard-hitting, dusty boom bap.

CAVALIER & CHILD ACTOR – “SACRIFICE” & “KNIGHT OF THE EAST”
Here’s another underground producer/rapper duo that just announced a new album and put out two new songs. Cavalier and Child Actor’s CINE comes out November 15 via Backwoodz Studioz, and it features collaborations with ELUCID and Quelle Chris. These first two singles lean on the abstract/psychedelic side.

HOVVDY – “BUBBA (JULIE’S VERSION)”
Hovvdy are following their self-titled 2024 double album with a new EP, Live from Julie’s, due out on November 22 via Arts & Crafts. It features reimagined versions of songs from the double album, and they’ve shared a new rendition of “Bubba.” “Sonically this is the most vulnerable we’ve ever been,” they say. “When we make records, we’re always trying to craft this hyper-layered, expansive world; and as much as we love that approach, it’s easy to get lost in it. With Live at Julie’s we wanted to peel everything back— just sit down and play the songs together.”

KENNY MASON – “HOODRAT”
Atlanta rapper Kenny Mason has released a woozy new single ahead of his appearance at Tyler, the Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival next weekend, and he confirmed that a new album is “coming soon.”

MATT POND PA – “THE BALLAD OF THE NATURAL LINES”
Matt Pond has been gearing up to release a new album, which will again be with his The Natural Lines project. It’s also named after it, and he’s shared the title track to The Ballad of the Natural Lines, which is due out on January 7.

CONSEQUENCE – “WHAT HAS AMERICA DONE” (ft. CHUCK D)
In the wake of Trump being re-elected, Consequence and Public Enemy’s Chuck D have come together for a new protest song, “What Has America Done.” Cons says, “The results of the 2024 Presidential Election are a reflection of who and where we are as a nation. Like it or not, especially if you’re African American, we must continue to pursue our equalities and make sure we do everything in our power to level the playing field as best we can. In doing so, we can forget where we’ve been and what it took to get where we are.”
Chuck D adds, “Avatars like they’re the new Klan hoodies. The more things change, the more they stay the SAME!”

SOCIAL ORDER – “MISS YOU”
Vegas darkwave trio Social Order are releasing a new EP, Miss You, in spring of 2025, and they’ve shared the title track. “‘Miss You’ captures the struggle of wanting to forget painful memories but being unable to, a feeling many can relate to,” the band’s Anthony Improgo says. “The song started with a simple bass line and a steady kick drum. I went through many iterations but after the chorus line was written the song took on a new life and wrote itself. It’s significant because it marks the point where I believe Social Order has found its true sound.”

HITKIDD – “B.W.T.U. (ft. RICO NASTY, DUKE DEUCE & XAVIER WULF)
Hitkidd, the rap producer who rose to fame after producing GloRilla’s “F.N.F. (Let’s Go),” has just released a new album called Hitkidd For President, and “B.W.T.U.” is one of its most star-studded posse cuts.

ALICE PHOEBE LOU – “BETTER”
Alice Phoebe Lou recorded her new single during her recent tour with Clairo. ““I wrote this song on my childhood piano at my mother’s house in one sitting,” she says. “I tapped into my imagination and past experiences of the way I used to idealize someone when I first met them, imagining an unrealistic future and being blind to their faults. Putting someone on a pedestal then makes the fall back to earth even harder, when reality sets in and you realize everything you’ve projected onto them and that they could never live up to that.”

JORJA SMITH – “LOVING YOU” & “DON’T LET ME GO”
UK singer Jorja Smith is gearing up for a 2025 North American tour, and today she released two new songs, the soaring soul ballad “Loving You” and the folky, acoustic guitar-based “Don’t Let Me Go.”

HALF•ALIVE – “SONGS” FT. JORDANA
half•alive’s new album Persona is out next Friday (11/15) via Virgin Music Group, and the latest single, “Songs,” features harmonies from Jordana.

FRONTIERER – “THE SKULL BURNED”
Scottish metalcore maniacs Frontierer have announced a new EP, The Skull Burned Wearing Hell Like A Life Vest As The Night Wept, due December 20, and lead single “The Skull Burned” is a real barn-burner.

CORDAE – “SYRUP SANDWICHES” (ft. JOEY BADA$$)
Cordae’s new album The Crossroads arrives November 15 via Atlantic, and new single “Syrup Sandwiches” pairs him up with fellow ’90s-style rap devotee Joey Bada$$.

NEW ORDER – “STATE OF THE NATION” (JAPAN DEMO)
New Order’s “Definitive Edition” of their fourth album, Brotherhood, is out in a couple weeks and one of the many bonus-tracks is this previously unreleased demo of non-LP single “State of the Nation.”

THE PHILLY SPECIALS FT STEVIE NICKS, JASON KELCE – “MAYBE THIS CHRISTMAS”
Former NFL Eagle Jason Kelce and the one and only Stevie Nicks have teamed up to record the Ron Sexsmith penned duet, “Maybe This Christmas,” which is from The Philly Specials’ third holiday album, A Philly Special Christmas Party, that’s out November 22.

ROBIN GUTHRIE (COCTEAU TWINS) – ‘ASTORIA’ EP
Former Cocteau Twins guitarist is back with his second solo EP of the year. “My EP Astoria picks up where my release Atlas had set off towards – a conclusion of a journey, like an arrival at a far-off destination,” Robin says. “I enjoy the continuity, and the EP format allows me to express these ideas in an episodic form.”

DOROTHEA PASS – “DIVER”
Toronto singer-songwriter Dorothea Pass, who has collaborated with US Girls, Badge Epoque Ensemble and Marker Starling, will release her second album, Think of Mist, on November 15. There’s a ’70s soft rock feel to “Diver” in all the right ways.

PETER MURPHY & BOY GEORGE – “LET THE FLOWERS GROW”
Here’s a collaboration you might not have seen coming: Bauhaus frontman Peter Murphy and Culture Club‘s Boy George teamed up for a new duet single, “Let The Flowers Grow” which was produced and co-written by Killing Joke bassist Youth.

Georgia Maq, formerly of Camp Cope, has a new solo single, which you can read more about here.

JOHN WATERS – “JINGLE BELLS” (SINGING DOGS COVER)
John Waters is a tacky Christmas connoisseur, who put out a 2004 compilation of some of the most annoying novelty holiday songs ever recorded and has an annual “A John Waters Christmas” tour, and he’s covered “Jingle Bells” in the style of The Singing Dogs, whose single was a hit in 1955 and 1971 and is still terrorizing shoppers today. Waters does his own barking!
