So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
FIREWALKER – “LIT UP WITH FIRE”
Boston hardcore band Firewalker have shared the second single off their upcoming LP Hell Bent, and it’s a fired-up, energized song written about existential dread. Firewalker also added more tour dates since we last spoke, including a TBD NYC show on August 17. Stay tuned for more on that.

SUMAC – “WORLD OF LIGHT” (MOOR MOTHER REMIX)
We haven’t heard SUMAC’s “World of Light” off their upcoming album The Healer yet, but today we get Moor Mother’s remix of the song. It finds the experimental spoken word artist and rapper on lead vocals and it’s awesome, and presumably pretty different from the album version. It’ll accompany a Raven Chacon remix of “The Stone’s Turn” on the remix EP The Keeper’s Tongue, due out on July 5, two weeks after the album’s June 21 release date.

NXWORRIES – “WALKONBY” (ft. EARL SWEATSHIRT & RAE KHALIL)
NxWorries’ (aka Anderson .Paak & Knxwledge) new album Why Lawd? is already out physically, but the digital version comes out this Friday (6/14) and today they’ve begun streaming one of its standout tracks, “WalkOnBy,” which features a show-stealing verse from Earl Sweatshirt. CHELSEA WOLFE – “HOUSE OF SELF-UNDOING” (BOY HARSHER REMIX)
Chelsea Wolfe released the very good She Reaches Out To She Reaches Out To She in February (get it on exclusive translucent berry vinyl), and she’s now shared the first remix, Boy Harsher’s take on “House of Self-Undoing.” “I love how Boy Harsher totally transformed this song into something new,” Wolfe says. “It’s really fun to hear my voice in this context — I so appreciate Jae and Gus bringing their energy to the House of Self-Undoing.” “I love remixes because they have a mind of their own,” Boy Harsher’s Augustus Muller adds. “I typically remove everything and follow the vocals. Chelsea’s voice is so beautiful and vulnerable on this track and I was just trying to make room for it. I was getting a bit of a R&B vibe and tried to lean into that.”

MACSEAL – “FOUR LEGS”
Macseal have shared the second single off their upcoming album Permanent Repeat. Like on the first single, the late ’90s / early 2000s power pop vibes are strong on this one, and Macseal have a serious knack for this kind of stuff.

ARMLOCK – “GUARDIAN”
Australia’s Armlock have shared another song off their upcoming album for Run For Cover, Seashell Angel Lucky Charm. Pinback have been namedropped as an influence on this band, and you can hear those vibes coming through on this one.

COMMON & PETE ROCK – “DREAMIN'”
Common and Pete Rock have announced a collaborative album, The Auditorium Vol. 1, due July 12 via Loma Vista. Here’s the horn-fueled, jazzy boom bap of new single “Dreamin.'”

REZN – “INDIGO”
Chicago psychedelic sludge metal band REZN have shared another taste of Burden ahead of its release this Friday (6/14) via Sargent House. If you miss Kylesa and you’re not listening to REZN yet, you should change that.

DELICATE STEVE – “I’LL BE THERE”
Delicate Steve’s new album is titled Delicate Steve Sings, but no the instrumental guitarist has not decided to start using his vocals chords; it’s more nod to his distinctive playing style. The album is out August 16 and features Jonathan Rado on bass, Kosta Galanopolous on drums, Randenata Zeiguer providing strings.

SUSANNA – “ELEPHANT SONG”
Norwegian singer and composer Susanna will release Meditations on Love on August 23 and here’s another preview. “‘Elephant Song’ is an ode to being in process; to struggle, to stumble, being in doubt, feeling vulnerable, but to keep on going,” Susanna says. “All we have is here and now. Inspired by the Ethiopian pianist Emahoy Tsege Mariam Gebru, it is the first song I made on my new piano, a Steinway from the 1960s.”

HEARTWORMS – “JACKED”
London post-punks Heartworms, who recently opened for The Kills on their US tour, have shared this new single which is also a teaser for their debut album, still TBA. Like their other releases, “Jacked” was made with producer Dan Carey.

NICK LOWE – “WENT TO A PARTY”
Here’s the first single from Nick Lowe’s first new album in 11 years.

SONDRE LERCHE – “YOU ARE IMPOSSIBLE”
This is one of the bonus tracks on Sondre Lerche’s upcoming 20th anniversary edition of his second album, Two Way Monologue. “You Are Impossible” was written in 2003 but recorded newly for this.

MIDWIFE – “KILLDOZER”
Madeline Johnston announced her fourth album as Midwife, No Depression In Heaven, and shared the first single, which you can read more about here.

HAYDEN THORPE (EX-WILD BEASTS) – “THEY”
Former Wild Beasts co-founder Hayden Thorpe has announced Ness, his third solo album, which will be released September 27 via Domino. The album is based on Robert Macfarlane’s 2019 book of the same name, and Thorpe collaborated with the author on it.

ANOHNI AND THE JOHNSONS – “BREAKING”
ANOHNI and The Johnstons followed last year’s My Back Was a Bridge For You to Cross with a new single, “Breaking,” which you can read more about here.

MOLCHAT DOMA – “SON”
Belarusian group Molchat Doma have announced a new album, Belaya Polosa, which will be out September 6 via Sacred Bones. The record finds them expanding beyond their synthwave origins. “It’s a different band,” Molchat Doma say. “A different sound and context, but the same style and the same emotions.”

MUSTAFA – “GAZA IS CALLING”
Sudanese-Canadian poet and singer/songwriter Mustafa has released the song “Gaza Is Calling,” which was written in 2020 about a childhood friend from Gaza and the violence he faced “that followed him from Gaza like a cold wind.” It comes with a video directed by Israeli-French actress and director Hiam Abbass that depicts life for children living in refugee camps in Palestine and stars Palestinian-American model Bella Hadid and Gazan rapper MC Abdul. Proceeds from the song will benefit the Palestinian Children’s Relief Fund. Read more here.
