So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
INTENSIVE CARE & THE BODY – “THE RIDERLESS MOUNT”
Two experimental heavy duos, The Body and Intensive Care (whose Andrew Nolan also recently released a collab LP with Full of Hell), have an album together called Was I Good Enough due 3/14 via Closed Casket Activities, and today they’ve released its second single. It’s as eerie, noisy, and caustic as you’d hope.

ANDY BELL (RIDE) – “APPLE GREEN UFO”
Here’s the second single from Ride singer/guitarist Andy Bell’s upcoming solo album. “Apple Green UFO” owes a little to Can and Serge Gainsbourg but reminds us of what Stone Roses might’ve turned into if they stayed down the “Fools Gold” path and not gone for the second half of “I Am the Resurrection.” Good stuff!

THE TUBS – “CHAIN REACTION”
The Tubs frontman Owen ‘O’ Williams says “Chain Reaction” is “about being a scammer/swindler/charlatan/snake oil salesman/trickster/bluffer/con artist/grifter/dodgy dealer/hustler ‘in the world of love.’ And about yourself being the true mark at the end of the day.” The band’s new album Cotton Crown is out March 7.

CROSS RECORD – “GOD FAX”
“Theo [Karon] came to me with the idea for this song and I kept saying ‘Okay we’ll try, but I might scrap it at any time’ right up until the end,” says Emily Cross of “God Fax,” which, spoiler alert, did not get scrapped. “I was asked to breathe in and out (kind of gasping) rhythmically and with different pitches until I almost passed out. I showed it to one of my friends when the rough version was done and he seemed scared of it, which to me was a positive sign.” The new Cross Record album, Crush Me, is out March 21 via Ba Da Bing.

BRUCE HAACK – “THIS OLD MAN”
Canadian musician and electronic pioneer Bruce Haack’s 1975 cult classic This Old Man is getting a reissue via Shimmy-Disc on March 14. Label head Kramer has remastered the album which will see its first new vinyl pressing in 50 years. Here’s the title track.

MERVE (ALTIN GÜN) – “PLATONIK”
Former Altin Gün member Merve Daşdemir launches her solo career with this sultry synthpop single.

ARNY MARGRET – “I LOVE YOU” & “GREYHOUND STATION”
Arny Margret’s new album I Miss You, I Do comes out in March, and she’s given us another preview with two new singles, “I Love You” and “Greyhound Station.” “I wrote ‘I Love You’ for my mom,” she says. “I went to visit her after I hadn’t seen her for a long time, I didn’t realise I missed her until I met her again. It’s about her and her childhood home, the farm she grew up on, it’s a song for her. It’s a song I really love.”

SWIMMING – “YOU SMELL LIKE PHYS ED” & “REPORTS”
Swimming hail from Newfoundland but make catchy emo songs rooted in the sounds of the American midwest. Their new LP Old comes out next week (2/21) via No Funeral, and you can hear two songs now.

GODSWOUNDS (ex-MR. BUNGLE) – “TANTAMOUNT LOVE”
Godswounds, whose lineup includes former Mr. Bungle drummer Godswounds, will release Cheer Up Sunshine on February 28 via Sonichimaera. Here’s new single “Tantamount Love,” a song that’s just as chaotic and genre-defying as Bungle themselves.

VOLCANO – “YODER” & “TIME AND DISTANCE”
Ohio metalcore band Volcano (who share a member with Sanguisugabogg) just dropped two ass-beating songs via DAZE.

HEART ATTACK MAN – “LAUGHING WITHOUT SMILING” & “SPIT”
Cleveland punks Heart Attack Man have announced a new album, Joyride the Pale Horse, along with the release of its first two singles. Read more here.

PETER MURPHY – “SWOON” FT TRENT REZNOR
“I am both in the state of swoon as are my audience when witnessing my live performance,” says Peter Murphy of the first single from his forthcoming solo album. “Trent Reznor cordially accepted my invitation to appear on the song, adding a welcome vibe on the second verse, as well as throughout the entire song in the form of backing vocalizing.”

THOM YORKE AND MARK PRITCHARD — “BACK IN THE GAME”
Thom Yorke and regular collaborator Mark Pritchard have just shared a collaborative single, “Back in the Game.” The song, which was a staple in Yorke’s setlists on his 2024 Everything solo tour, is dark and undulating and just a little creepy.

TINDERSTICKS – “SOFT TISUE”
Tindersticks’ “Soft Tissue” gave their 2024 album its title but ended up not making the record. It’s now coming out as a 7″ single.

BEIRUT – “GUERICKE’S UNICORN”
Zach Condon has announced a new Beirut, album A Study of Losses, which will be out April 18 via his own Pompeii Records. The album was commissioned by the Swedish contemporary circus Kompani Giraff and is an 18-song adaptation of Verzeichnis einiger Verluste, the novel by German author Judith Schalansky, and musically takes inspiration from Magnetic Fields’ 69 Love Songs. This is the first single.

CHIME SCHOOL (OH SEES / ADAM & THE ANTS) – “NEIGHBORHOOD DOG”
Here’s a collaboration we didn’t see coming: OSEES frontman John Dwyer and original Adam & The Ants / Bow Wow Wow drummer David Barbarossa have formed a new project called Chime Oblivion.

JAPANESE BREAKFAST – “MEGA CIRCUIT”
Japanese Breakfast shared a second single off their anticipated new album For Melancholy Brunettes (& sad women), which you can read more about here.

EZRA FURMAN – “GRAND MAL”
Ezra Furman’s 10th album, Goodbye Small Head, will be out May 16 via Bella Union. This is the first single.
