So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
FUTUREBIRDS – “SIENNA LIFE,” “SLEEPLESS IN THE CAGE,” “GHOST MOON”
Futurebirds announced a new double album, Far Out Country, due out June 5 via Dualtone Records, and shared the first three singles. “We’re really excited to be releasing our first double record in the truest sense,” Carter King says. “Far Out Country I & II are the two different lenses of the 3D movie glasses. Our three different songwriting perspectives speaking with each other about a shared life, experienced unbelievably close together, and also far apart. It’s a daytime talk, and another one deeper in the night. Far Out Country is a place, not a sound. It’s a place outside ourselves that hopefully helps us see inside the house a little more clearly. New terrain is always best explored with friends. Always use the buddy system, and be safe out there. The full double album will be available on vinyl out of the gates, but digitally, I & II will live and breathe on their own, unfolding one-at-a-time. Come on out and find us.”

KNEECAP – “FENIAN”
Kneecap’s anticipated new album FENIAN is out on May 1 (moved from 4/24) and they’ve just shared the fiery title track which samples, of all things, Norwegian band Casiokids’ late-’00s banger “Fot i hose.” They call it “An Anthem to embrace our Fenian past, and to cure our colonial hangover by reconnecting the warriors of Irish folklore with the Fenian c*nts from the North of Ireland today.”

HAMMOK – “GOONING FOR FREE”
Oslo punks Hammok have shared another ripper from their upcoming album When Does This Place Become Our Scene.

JESSIE MAZIN – “THE MAN WITH MONEY IN HIS HANDS”
Folk artist Jessie Mazin has shared this new protest anthem which he says: “The greed and obsession with power I’ve witnessed in this country has left me feeling helpless and angry. Billionaires continue to increase their wealth and capital at an extremely rapid wealth, while millions can barely afford to eat. ‘the man with money in his hands’ is a critique of this systemic oligarchical corruption and an expression of my anger.”

ZOON – “ONE TOO MANY NIGHTS”
Canadian shoegazer ZOON has announced new album Happy Thought School which will be out June 19 via Paper Bag Records. “When a relationship ends, it’s not just the person you lose it’s the version of yourself that existed beside them,” Zoon’s Daniel Monkman says of the album’s first single and video. “‘One Too Many Nights’ is about that recalibration. I don’t date often, so when something shifts, it shifts my whole orbit. In that moment, being alone felt like the honest path forward.”

TRACEY NELSON – “HERCULES”
Tracey Nelson announced a new album, Hercules, due out on July 10 via K/Perennial. It was co-produced by MJ Lenderman and Colin Miller, and the first single is the title track.

GREG SURMACZ – “INSTRUCTION MANUAL RAPS” (FT. OPEN MIKE EAGLE)
Leeds-based jazz musician and producer Greg Surmacz is releasing a new EP, Voices Through the Wall, due out May 22 via XVI Records. He’s shared the first single, “Instruction Manual Raps,” which features Open Mike Eagle. “Mike is one of my favourite artists ever, and I still can’t quite believe we got to work on this track together,” Greg says. “It’s about boundaries, space, and navigating the often perilous world of social interaction – all delivered with Mike’s signature wit and dexterity. He has a unique ability to convey quite complex emotional ideas in really vivid, often hilarious ways, and he was my first thought when starting to put this project together.”

METRIC – “CRUSH FOREVER”
Emily Haines calls “Crush Forever,” the latest single from Metric’s new album Romanticize the Dive, “my love letter to strong girls in this world.”

KÁRYYN – “END TO KNOWING YOU”
KÁRYYN’s new album Physics Universal Love Language (PULL) is out on May 29 via Mute, and she’s give us another preview with “End to Knowing You,” an atmospheric art pop track.

JESCA HOOP – “BIG STORM”
Jesca Hoop’s new album Long Wave Home is out next month, and she’s given us another preview with “Big Storm.” “There was a moment, many years ago, when I was ready to ditch everything—everyone I knew and everything I was doing,” she says. “I gave away all my possessions, keeping only the essentials. I sold my car. I bought a plane ticket. The plan was to leave without notice. Then the biggest storm in recent history blew my getaway plan to bits. It grounded all planes and halted travel. I was forced to face my life. Myself. The storm taught me there is no cheat code for life—no easy way out. At thesame time, my life—my happiness—is my responsibility. Mine and only mine.”

WU LYF – “THE FOOL”
Ahead of the release of their first album in fifteen years, A Wave That Will Never Break, next week, WU LYF have shared a final advance single,” The Fool.” “The fool is one of those special songs that just appeared almost fully formed whilst jamming in the weeks before we went into record with sonic boom,” Ellery Roberts says. “It is a simple, sweet love song that leans into rock ’n’ roll cliché, giving voice to the archetypal holy fool – one who yearns after their lover as a path toward union with the divine.”

FILM – “ROUNDABOUT”
The Starting Line vocalist Ken Vasoli, Algernon Cadwallader/Hop Along guitarist Joe Reinhart, and drummer TJ DeBlois from pre-Algernon band Halfway to Holland recorded a demo as FILM, and it’s coming out as their debut album, Permamence, next month. The first single is”Roundabout,” which you can read more about here.
