So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
YAEJI – “BOOBOO2” FT. UNDERSCORES & ALIYAH’S INTERLUDE
“booboo2” is the sequel to Yaeji’s 2024 single “booboo,” and it features Atlanta rapper and influencers Aliyah’s Interlude and electronic popstar underscores.

DANIEL CAESAR – “MOON” FT. BON IVER
Daniel Caesar is releasing his new album Son of Spergy on October 24 via Republic, and he’s given us a new preview with “Moon,” which was written with and features Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon.

HORSEGIRL – JULIE IN TWOS
Horsegirl are back with a new EP featuring demos of songs off this year’s great Phonetics On And On.

AUTOMATIC – “BLACK BOX”
The title of Automatic’s new single takes its name from the flight recorder on planes that is designed to withstand a crash. “The repetitive synth is supposed to suggest a plane gliding as it crashes/ an alarm distress call,” says Izzy from the band. “I was listening to the Leonard Cohen album The Future a lot around the time the lyrics were written. It’s a pretty straightforward critique of people that have sold out on a large scale, specifically within creative industries. Thierry Mugler said, “art used to tell money what to do, now money tells art what to do” and the world is a less interesting place because of it.” New album Is It Now? is out Friday.

JAKE XERXES FUSSELL AND JAMES ELKINGTON – “CONTEMPLATING THE MOON / GLOW IN THE DARK”
Jake Xerxes Fussell and James Elkington have composed the score for new feature film Rebuilding and the soundtrack is out November 14 (same day as the film) via Fat Possum. “I think [Director Max Walker-Silverman] had a suspicion that we’d be able to improvise a couple of new pieces in the room, while watching the picture, which turned out to be true,” Elkington says.“Some of our favorite cues were written that way – in the room while watching the picture.” Check out two pieces from the score now.

BRÒGEAL – “DRAW THE LINE”
Scottish folk-punks Brògeal are gearing up to release their debut album, Tuesday Paper Club, on October 17. and here’s a preview. “Draw the line is a song I wrote about the sort of people you get in small towns who deludedly think that they run the place because they sell drugs and think they’re the hard man, the sort of love island looking coke heads, everybody knows one,” says singer Daniel Harkins. “It’s a strange subject matter but it’s full of tongue in cheek lyrics and has a certain melancholy about it because at the end of the day I can’t help feel sorry for these guys. It was written to sound like an Irish Rebel song and it still does in ways but when the boys jumped on it’s adapted this Libertines, The Clash sort of sound which we love.”

TONY MOLINA – “FC 23,” “FADED HOLIDAY,” “VIOLETS OF DAWN”
Tony Molina has announced new album On This Day which will be out November 14 via Slumberland / Olde Fade & Speakeasy Studios SF. The album was produced and recorded by Tony and Alicia Vanden Heuvel (The Aislers Set) and here are three power-pop nuggets from this 21-song set.

TYLER BALLGAME – “I BELIEVE IN LOVE”
Rhode Island singer-songwriter Tyler Ballgame has announced his debut album, For the First Time, Again which will be out January 30 via Rough Trade. He made it with producer Jonathan Rado. “I had met Rado and he told me to write the biggest song in the world, so I sat down at my kitchen table for two days and put the puzzle of the composition together,” Tyler says of the album’s first single. “It’s turned into an anthem about love of love and the fools it makes.”

DAFFO – “SIDEWAYS”
Daffo’s debut album Where the Earth Bends arrives this Friday, and they’ve shared a final advance single ahead of that. “‘Sideways’ is tough for me to talk about, but it has to do with my habit of keeping secrets from others, or hiding certain things from people out of the belief that it’s for their own benefit,” Gabi Gamberg says.

RUNO PLUM – “HALFWAY UP THE LAWN”
runo plum’s debut album patching is out in November, and she’s given us another preview with “Halfway Up The Lawn,” a gentle indie rock track.

AMANDA SHIRES – “LATELY”
“It’s about that in-between place where you’re not okay, but you’re not falling apart either…you’re just wandering, looking for something to hold on to,” Amanda Shires says of “Lately,” the latest single from her anticipated new album Nobody’s Girl. “It’s cinematic but grounded. It’s fighting the blues with more blues and searching the sky for a silver lining.”

Cleveland indie-punks The Sonder Bombs have released a fiery new single, “Everything.”

BETTER LOVERS – “DON’T FORGET TO SAY PLEASE”
Every Time I Die/Dillinger Escape Plan supergroup Better Lovers are staying prolific and they just released their first new single of 2025, “Don’t Forget To Say Please.”

BELL WITCH & AERIAL RUIN – STYGIAN BOUGH VOL. II TEASER
Bell Witch and Aerial Ruin have announced the followup/sequel to their 2020 collaborative album Stygian Bough Vol. I. All we’ve got so far is a two-minute teaser clip that finds the trio’s melodic, slow-paced doom in great form before cutting off abruptly and leaving us wanting much more. It comes out this fall via Profound Lore (exact release date TBA).
