So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
TENNIS
Tennis, the husband and wife duo of Alaina Moore and Patrick Riley, are releasing new album Face Down in the Garden on April 25, then going on tour, and then will retire the band. “After finishing Face Down In The Garden, it became clear that we had said everything we wanted to say and achieved everything we wanted to achieve with our band,” says Alaina Moore. “This will be our last studio album, at least in this configuration as Tennis. We are ready to pursue other creative projects and to make space in our lives for new things.” The announcement comes with this new single from the album.

BILLY WOODS – “BLK ZMBY”
billy woods dropped another single off his anticipated new album GOLLIWOG, “BLK ZMBY,” which was produced by Steel Tipped Dove.

THE HEAD AND THE HEART – “BLUE EMBERS”
The Head and The Heart’s new album Aperture is out May 9 and here’s the latest single. Says the band’s Matt Gervais, “There’s always something inviting you to the next thing. Even when you’ve convinced yourself that it would never do that. Not for you. But then it does. When you let it do what it has to do to you. And when you do, it just keeps opening and opening over and over until the thing that seemed never ending is only a memory. So when you’re thinking that it’s never gonna end, remember that it does. And it can be beautiful, if you let it be. Blue Embers was written in that never-ending, always-ending space. If it weren’t for music, that space would be harder and harder to see through. And if you’re in there right now, know that you’re not alone, that it does open up, and that there’s beauty on the other side you can’t even imagine. Just hold on. ”

DEMERSAL – “JEG VED IKKE HVOR DET ER”
Danish screamo band Demersal have shared the first single off their upcoming EP, the follow-up to their great 2024 self-titled album.

GHOST – “LACHRYMA”
Here’s the second single from GHOST’s upcoming SKELETÁ. Announcing it, the band wrote “We wish to inform you that you’ve made your bed, and now you shall cry in it.”

THE CALLOUS DAOBOYS – “DISTRACTED BY THE MONA LISA”
The Callous Daoboys shared another single off their anticipated third album. About “Distracted by the Mona Lisa,” vocalist Carson Pace says, “There have been countless times in my life where I have felt married to my passion. It’s been detrimental, painful, and has forced me to sacrifice a normal life. This song is me committing to being married to that passion, regardless of the consequences. It’s less a spit in the face of normality, and more a love letter to my own band.”

QUAVO & LIL BABY – “LEGENDS”
Quavo and Lil Baby have teamed up for this collab produced by Alt Jacob and Wheezy that comes with an opulent, luxury car-filled video.

ALICE PHOEBE LOU – “YOU AND I”
“You and I” is Alice Phoebe Lou’s first ever self-produced release, and she says it “speaks of longing and surrendering in love, it’s a confession and a prayer, a declaration that this is where we are and want to be and let’s stop holding back and dive deeper into everything together. It asks the other to let go of what has happened before and to be here now and dream up the future together. It’s about telling one another what our needs are so we can be there for each other in a deeper, more fundamental way. After five band records, I’ve opened my treasure chest of personal storytelling songs that I’ve built up over a decade. Songs that didn’t make it into other albums, some songs I never thought would see the light of day. I am embarking on the brave and thrilling journey of recording these songs as they are, with love and playfulness, simple and all my own. Leaning into imperfection and taking inspiration from some of my biggest influences who have made timeless folk acoustic albums.”

NOUVELLE VAGUE FT HANA HU – “SORRY” (THE COLOURFIELD COVER)
Nouvelle Vague pay tribute to the late Terry Hall with this cover of “Sorry” by his mid-’80s band The Colourfield. Says Marc Collin: ” “I’ve followed Terry Hall since The Specials, and I had the chance to work with him on the cover Nouvelle Vague has done of ‘Our Lips Are Sealed’ in 2009. ‘Sorry’ was released in 1984. I remember I’ve bought this maxi single at Champs Disques in the ‘export’ row. I immediately fell in love with this song, revealing the beauty of his vocal and his songwriting. When Terry passed away, I saw a message of Hannah Hue that was working with him, I liked her voice and asked her if she wanted to do a cover of Sorry for the Nouvelle Vague album. She said yes and came to Paris to record it. I think that’s the only cover existing of this beautiful song.”

MARINA – “CUNTISSIMO”
Ahead of her Coachella set, Marina has announced her new album Princess of Power, due out June 6 via Queenie Records/BMG. The first single is “Cuntissimo,” and she says, “So often, women don’t think they’re allowed to feel their sexuality in a way that doesn’t involve how it looks for men. They feel that it’s been co-opted – I would love to be able to free younger women of that, the feeling that our bodies don’t quite belong to us.”

THE SALT COLLECTION – “LAST DAY THAT WE’RE YOUNG” (GAME THEORY COVER)
The Salt Collective, the Paris-based group centered around the core of Loud Stéphane Schuck (guitar), Benoit Lautridou (drums), and Fred Quentin (bass), will release a new EP on May 23. The title track is a cover of Game Theory’s “Last Day That We’re Young” and was produced by The dB’s Chris Stamey.

THE DIRTY NIL – “I WANNA BE YOUR DOG” (THE STOOGES COVER FT. ALEXISONFIRE’s GEORGE PETTIT)
Ahead of their North American tour with Heart Attack Man, Carpool and Dear Seattle, The Dirty Nil have shared a new live cover of The Stooges’ classic “I Wanna Be Your Dog,” featuring vocals from Alexisonfire’s George Pettit.

SPORTS TEAM – “SENSIBLE”
Rob Knaggs says his band Sports Team’s new single is “about the myth of betterment. ‘Go to the gym. Get ripped! Get rich! Get ahead!’ I think being young now, it feels like you’re trapped in someone else’s nostalgia. Primed. Groomed. Glistening with youth and vigor. What for? Staving off the grim reaper with Haeckels face creams and expensive candles. Adopting the aesthetic of liberalism while running an air bnb empire, flying 10 times a year and working for Helsing AI.”

DARK ANGEL – “EXTINCTION LEVEL EVENT”
Dark Angel’s new single is their first new music since their 1991 album Time Does Not Heal, and it features music written by late guitarist Jim Durkin, who passed away in 2023.

New AppleTV+ series Your Friends & Neighbors stars Jon Hamm and has a theme song by Hamilton Leithauser.

MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE – “I’M NOT OKAY (I PROMISE) (LIVE FROM BBC RADIO 1’S THE LOCK UP, 2005)”
My Chemical Romance announced a deluxe reissue of their 2004 sophomore album Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge with a few previously unheard bonus tracks, including this live version of “I’m Not Okay (I Promise).” Pre-order it on vinyl in the BV shop.

BEATIE WOLFE & BRIAN ENO – “SUDDENLY” / BRIAN ENO & BEATIE WOLFE – “BIG EMPTY COUNTRY”
Brian Eno and artist/composer Beatie Wolfe have collaborated on two new albums, Luminal and Lateral, which will both be out June 6 via Verve. Luminal is song-based, credited to Wolfe first and described as “dream music,” while Lateral is ambient, credited to Eno first and described as “space music.” Hear a track from each.
