So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
LITTLE SIMZ – “YOUNG”
Here’s another taste of Little Simz’s upcoming Lotus which is out in less than a month. Working with producer Miles Clinton James after many records with Inflo gives everything a new flavor, including the very playful lyrics on “Young,” which has a bit of a punk vibe. The video’s terrific too.

YEULE – “DUDU”
yeule says “Dudu” is about “Unrequited love & stifling yourself.” It’s the latest single from their new album Evangelic Girl is a Gun, which arrives later this month.

PAUL BANKS – “SISTER MIDNIGHT” + “GIMME DANGER” (IGGY POP COVERS)
Interpol have a new 7″ single featuring two Iggy Pop covers. Says Paul Banks, ‘“Gimme Danger” is one of my favorite Stooges songs, and ‘Sister Midnight’ I was less familiar with, but it is the titular track of a film that is feral with Stoogian grit and joy, so I was equally excited to immerse myself in it, and find an interpretation that felt authentic to my voice.”

ARCA – “PUTA” & “SOLA”
“Puta and Sola are songs I’ve been perfecting for years. Taking my time writing, recording, producing and mixing them on my own, slow cooking, has been important to getting the music just right. I’m so proud of these songs, and both Daniel Sannwald and Stillz are geniuses, the videos are so amazing,” Arca says of this double-A-side single. “The themes lyrically span both extravagant sensuality for the dancefloor on ‘Puta’ as well as the vulnerability of tenderness and love in ‘Sola.’ I hope they bring joy and comfort as well as confidence to all my fellow mutants!”

ANNAHSTASIA – “BE KIND”
Annahstasia’s new album Tether arrives next month, and she’s given us another preview with the hushed, tender “Be Kind.” “‘Be Kind’ is one of the first lessons I was taught,” she says. “As life takes you through the full spectrum of emotions it certainly isn’t always easy to be a ‘good’ person. ‘Goodness’ is a moral grey. It is a much clearer compass attempting kindness and learning compassion in deeper levels. This song is about a chapter of my life where I found my surroundings mostly overwhelming and oppressive to my spirit, but as I narrowed in on the minutiae, the details in the mundane. I found so much beauty and awe for the matter that had collected before me. I found a bit of stillness in myself. In the conversation between me and the other, I want to remind everyone that we are all reflections of each other, the actions we lead with in the world will always come back to greet us in some form. So it’s best practice to take a few deep breaths and find kindness again. I believe that is the world we all want. A kinder one. A softer one.”

MARK VAN HOEN – “SHINE” (SLOWDIVE COVER)
Electronic music vet Mark Van Hoen has covered “Shine” by his old frineds and collaborators Slowdive. He keeps the spaciness and adds a dollop of IDM glitch.

THE BUG CLUB – “APPROPRIATE EMOTIONS”
The Bug Club are really letting their melodic, sensitive side shine on upcoming album Very Human Features. “Appropriate Emotions” is a sweet treat, that’s just shambolic enough, with Sam and Tilly’s harmonies sounding great.

WAVVES – “SPUN”
Wavves is nearing the release of his new album Spun, and today we get to hear the title track, a catchy grunge-punk anthem that sounds like classic Wavves (and also Blue Album-era Weezer).

ELIAS RØNNENFELT (ICEAGE) – “CARRY-ON BAG”
Iceage’s Elias Rønnenfelt is back with this druggy new single Carry-On Bag that comes just ahead of a tour.

BILLY NOMATES – “OVERRIDE”
Billy Nomates’ third album, Metalhorse, is out this Friday and here’s one last taste of the country new wave sounds found within.

ROCKET – “ONE MILLION”
Rocket’s new ingle “One Million” nails the ’90s alt-rock vibe, as does the video.

TAN COLOGNE – “INFINITY”
Taos, NM duo Tan Cologne will release new album Unknown Beyond on June 20 via Labrador. Here’s an early preview. “‘Infinity’ is about an endless drift into the infinite,” the band explain. “The lyrics ‘All pass through known’ evoke the comfort of knowing we all enter and leave, though the definitive dimension is the unknown beyond.” They continue, “We understand the passage through physical form, and take into account the infinite depth outside of our comprehension. Our music video circles a day or dissolving timeline of a man on a walk and how he finds himself in a meditative drift with a horse, and then returns to the beginning and also the end.” Tan Cologne’s new album

THE LEMONHEADS – “DEEP END” FT J MASCIS & JULIANA HATFIELD
Evan Dando is gearing up to release the first Lemonheads album of original material in nearly two decades later this year and as a taster, he’s just announced a 12″ single with two songs. “Deep End” is a hard-hitting rock song that features a few of Dando’s longtime friends: J Mascis on guitar, former Lemonhead member Juliana Hatfield, and Australian singer-songwriter Tom Morgan of Smudge.
