18 New Songs Out Today

So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.

ONEDA – “SUPERWOMAN”

BICEP – “ROLA”

UK dance duo Bicep have announced the latest EP in their CHROMA project which is out today. “We wanted something dark and heavy to play as our first tune, as a stark departure from the Live show,” say Bicep of “Rola,” the EP’s single. “It’s exactly what we’re wanting to achieve with CHROMA, a track written for the dancefloor with a specific idea in mind. It’s a chance for us to stretch our legs outside a traditional album cycle and focus purely on music for us djing. It feels really refreshing for us to write music and play it out that same week. It’s been really fun for us to let people hear a bit of a tougher sound from us.”

JULIEN BAKER & CALVIN LAUBER – “THE LENGTHS – THEME FROM ORPHAN BLACK: ECHOES”

Julien Baker and recording engineer Calvin Lauber teamed up for the theme song for AMC’s new Ophan Black spinoff, Orphan Black: Echoes.

DUMMY – “NULLSPACE”

LA band Dummy call “Nullspace” their new album Free Energy‘s “sonic mission statement,” adding that it was influenced by Mark Van Hoen (Seefeel), “especially the cut-up dreamy dance-pop he was making on the Locust record Morning Light.” It’s got a bit of that shufflebeat sound that was so prevalent in the UK in the late-’80s and early-’90s (Happy Mondays, Stone Roses, etc).
