So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
DROP NINETEENS – “THE PRICE WAS HIGH”
Shoegaze vets Drop Nineteens will release their first album in 30 years in just a couple weeks and they’ve just shared the final pre-release single. “The Price Was High” is initially pretty far from the band’s typical sound — more in the dark, slinky indie rock realm – but then the guitars roar in.

SIERRA FERRELL – “FOX HUNT”
Bluegrass revivalist Sierra Ferrell has a followup to 2021’s great Long Time Coming in the works, and while you wait for more details on that, she’s shared its lead single. “Fox Hunt” takes century-old ideas and reshapes them into something totally modern and climactic.

RACETRAITOR – “CHAMELECÓN”
Racetraitor have shared the second single from Creation and the Timeless Order of Things. “Chamelecón” is a grindy metalcore song with a powerful message, as the band explains: “For many years Chamelecón has been one of the most violent places on Earth, though not really discussed by major news organizations or in public discourse. The context of Chamelecón is one of colonization, multinational corporation installed governments in the late 1800s/early 1900s, recent US-Backed coups involved in the drug trade, internal migration and displacement for international manufacturing companies to open up factories in ‘tax-incentive’ zones, reception of high numbers of deportees from the US, total police corruption, and extreme levels of gang violence.”

CHARLI XCX & SAM SMITH – “IN THE CITY”
“The song is about finding the people you truly love and connect with through wild nights out and partying in magical places,” Charli XCX says of her new colabration with Sam Smith. “It’s about feeling accepted, the magnificence of being welcomed into queer spaces and those once in a lifetime people you get to meet when you’re there.”

ARM’S LENGTH – “ARM’S LENGTH”
Ontario post-hardcore/emo band Arm’s Length have shared a new full-band update on the first song they ever released, which is also called “Arm’s Length,” and this version fits right in with all the great newer material they’ve been putting out lately.

DEATHCRASH – “TURN” (WATER FROM YOUR EYES REMIX)
Water From Your Eyes have remixed “Turn” from UK slowcore band deathcrash’s new album Less, and they turn it into a total trip that kinda sounds like those later Low albums.

CHRIS GARNEAU – “OUT OF LOVE”
NYC singer-songwriter Chris Garneau will release the Out of Love EP on December 8 and he’s just shared the title track. Don’t let the cowboy duds fool you, this is widescreen orch-pop.

SNARLS – “BIG FISH”
Ohio indie-punks Snarls unleash a driving, catchy new single called “Big Fish.”

WITCHING WAVES – “VESSEL”
UK band Witching Waves will release new LP Streams and Waterways on December 1 via Specialist Subject, and lead single combines the power of post-hardcore with the scrappy intimacy of indie rock.

21 SAVAGE – “CALL ME REVENGE”
21 Savage will be a playable character in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, and he’s also got this cinematic new song on the soundtrack.

MICHELLE – “GLOW” & “AGNOSTIC”
NYC collective MICHELLE announced a new EP, GLOW, and shared the first two singles, the folky “AGNOSTIC” and the poppy title track.

TEXAS IN JULY – “PUT TO DEATH”
Pennsylvania metalcore band Texas In July have announced the Without Reason EP, their first release in nine years. It’s due November 17 via Equal Vision, and lead single “Put To Death” is out now.

JUDAS KNIFE – MILK & SHADOW
Judas Knife–the recently-formed duo of Joseph Grillo (Garrison, Gay For Johnny Depp) and drummer Drew Thomas (Youth of Today, Into Another, Bold)–have put out a 23-minute concert film and it gives you a great taste of how hard this band hits.

NIONTAY – “REAL HIPHOP” (ft. EARL SWEATSHIRT, MIKE & EL COUSTEAU)
Brooklyn-via-Florida rapper Niontay has announced a new EP, and lead single “Real Hiphop” has some pretty famous guests. Read about it here.

THE EMBASSY – “AMNESIA”
E-Numbers is Swedish duo The Embassy’s first album in five years and will be out November 3. The balearic vibes are strong in this one.

Toronto duo Ducks Ltd are back with new single “The Main Thing,” another of their signature jangly earworms that features backing vocals from Dehd‘s Jason Balla.
