So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
EDITRIX – “THE BIG E”
The Wendy Eisenberg-led mathy art rock trio Editrix have announced a new album, The Big E, due July 25 via Joyful Noise. Here’s the delightfully twitchy title track.

S.G. GOODMAN – “MICHAEL TOLD ME”
“The grief of losing a father figure amounted to needing all of my chosen brothers,” S.G. Goodman says. “We told each other that we loved each other, and Matt told me he would take care of Mike’s partner and all of our friends while we finished up our run. The song ‘Michael Told Me’ was started shortly after our falling out in 2021, and the song fully revealed itself in the winter of 2024. It is a song of reconciliation, and a testament to my relationship to two great men who believe that there is something worth getting to on the other side of feeling hurt. Our friendship had been pruned back for a time, but Mike had always assured me that new growth would come, and I believed him. It truly is one of life’s greatest gifts to understand and to experience love that can overcome ruptures.” It’s from her new album Planting by the Signs.

FRANKIE COSMOS – “PRESSED FLOWER” FT TRACEY ULLMAN
Do you like dogs? What about actress, comedienne and “They Don’t Know” hitmaker Tracey Ullman? Then you’ll love the new Frankie Cosmos video which features both. “It’s a dream come true to have Tracey Ullman star in this video,” says Greta Kline whose parents, Kevin Kline and Phoebe Cates, co-starred with Ullman in 1990 comedy I Love You To Death. “She’s the funniest person I know, and brings love, depth, and care to every character she plays. Getting to play dress-up with her and find this Manhattanite havoc-wreaker character was a blast. The Director, Adam Kolodny, brought the perfect framework to our crazy concept. This song, for me, is about figuring out who you are, moving on while looking back, and feeling the effects of memories on locations. The video is about someone running around NYC in a disguise, causing a chaotic chain of events for the locals (played by my band).” Frankie Cosmos’ new album, Different Talking is out June 27.

GORDI – “PVC DIVIDE” (FT. ANAIS MITCHELL)
Gordi met Anaïs Mitchell while they were both singing backup vocals for Bon Iver on Jimmy Fallon, and now they’ve collaborated on a song. “PVC Divide” is inspired by Gordi’s time spent working on a doctor during the pandemic. It’s from her upcoming album Like Plasticine.

BEEN STELLAR – “BREAKAWAY”
NYC indie rock band Been Stellar are back with this new single that finds them more in anthemic pop territory than on last year’s post-punk-leaning debut album, Scream NY. “We needed to capture a few feelings with this song,” says bandleader Sam Slocum. “Some mixture of sadness, anger, regret— and ultimately optimism. When Sky first showed me the initial idea it struck me how punchy yet melodic it was. There were already a few emotions in the guitar part alone, so the words followed naturally and the song came to life. We quickly brought it into the studio with Aron (Kobayashi-Ritch) and recorded it together live.”

ALLO DARLIN’ – “COLOGNE”
“This is a song written for the Cologne Popfest,” notes Allo Darlin’s Elizabeth Morris, “but inspired by many great shows in Germany over the years. It’s also a song about longing for Spring in the darkest months of the year.” Allo Darlin’s first album in more than a decade will be out July 11.

BC CAMPLIGHT – “A SOBER CONVERSATION”
“I think we all reach a point in our lives where we can no longer run from ourselves or our pasts,” says Brian Chistinzio of the title track to his new BC Camplight album. “When I found myself no longer able to stay one step ahead of my fears and memories I stopped running, let myself feel it all, and had a long talk with myself. The talk was dark and disturbing but genuine and life-changing. This song is that sober conversation”.

PORCELAIN – “HARMONY”
Austin’s Porcelain (members of Exhalants, US Weekly, Pleasure Venom, and more) are releasing the two-song “Harmony” b/w “Torch” 7″ on July 9, ahead of their upcoming tour with Pelican, and the just-shared A-side is a dose of gritty, ’90s-style post-hardcore.

ALFA MIST – “9 MONTHS” & “AVOID THE DRONES”
UK jazz/hip hop artist Alfa Mist has announced a new album, Roulette, due October 3 via his own Sekito Records. Along with the announcement comes the moody jazz-rap of “9 Months” and the groovy, instrumental “Avoid the Drones.”

ASSERTION (SUNNY DAY REAL ESTATE) – “LOCK AND LOAD”
Founding Sunny Day Real Estate drummer William Goldsmith’s newer band Assertion have announced a new album, Basking in the Gaslight, due July 25 via Spartan Records. The first single is “Lock and Load,” an anthemic post-hardcore song that sounds like it could’ve come out the same year SDRE released Diary.

Hand Habits (Meg Duffy) has announced a new album, Blue Reminder, which will be out August 22 via Fat Possum. “For this record I set out to no longer shapeshift when it came to the person I become in the face of love,” says Duffy. This is the first single.

IVY – “SAY YOU WILL”
The world thought IVY was gone after 2012, and for a time we did too. And after Adam’s death in 2020 it seemed certain,” says Ivy’s Andy Chase. “So Dominique and I are thrilled to give everyone a brand new IVY album, with our beloved Adam playing on every song!” Here’s a taste.
