16 New Songs Out Today

So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.

SAWEETIE – “NANI”

Saweetie returns with “NANi,” an irresistible rap/pop hybrid with a hook and a video that feels perfect for summer. Okay, now drop the album, Saweetie!

LOS CAMPESINOS! – “A PSYCHIC WOUND”

It’s only been two days since Los Campesinos! announced their new album All Hell and released lead single “Feast of Tongues,” and they’ve already released its second single. This one’s a little more punky and propulsive, and it’s another great one.

BODY COUNT – “PSYCHOPATH” (ft. FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY’s JOE BADOLATO)

Ice-T’s rap metal band Body Count are gearing up to release their eighth album Merciless on Century Media (release date TBA), and it’ll include new single “Psychopath.” It was co-produced by Will Putney, and it features guest vocals by Will’s Fit For An Autopsy bandmate Joe Badolato. (Corpsegrinder from Cannibal Corpse is a confirmed guest on the album too.) If you’re gonna name a song “Psychopath,” it’s gotta go hard, and this does.

FUTURE TEENS – “MOURNING TIME”

Ahead of a tour with Aaron West & the Roaring Twenties, Future Teens have shared an earthy, grief-stricken new song that pairs very well with their upcoming tourmates.

LONDON GRAMMAR – “KIND OF MAN”

London Grammar have a new album on the way; The Greatest Love is due out on September 13, and they’ve given us an early taste with “Kind of Man.” Vocalist Hannah Reid says, “‘Kind of Man’ is about watching somebody descend into the sort of glamour and slight corruption of Hollywood. The song is obviously about misogyny but it’s about sexism in a tongue-in-cheek way. That’s kind of what I love about the song. I didn’t want it to be melancholic in any way. So, yeah it’s quite an upbeat way of saying that. I like the fact that it’s talking about a pattern of relationship where you could maybe expect a man who might not respect you and who might be the exact kind of man to fall in love with you – and it’s kind of that dichotomy.”

MCVERTT – “HATE THE REAL” ft. 41 (KYLE RICHH, JENN CARTER, TA-TA)

Trailblazing Jersey club producer MCVERTT drops a new banger featuring Brooklyn rap group 41.

NIGHT SINS – A SILVER BLADE IN THE SHADOW EP + “BURN AWAY” VIDEO

Night Sins, the gothy synthpop project of former Nothing drummer Kyle Kimball, has just released this new EP on Born Losers Records and a video for “Burn Away.”

LUPE FIASCO – “SAMURAI”

Lupe Fiasco has announced a new album, Samurai, due June 28 via 1st & 15th, and the just-released title track is a soul-infused rap song that finds Lupe in fine form.

SID SRIRAM – “ONE DAY GOD”

Def Jam-signed Indian Carnatic and R&B musician Sid Sriram has shared a new melancholic ballad, “One Day God.”

BON JOVI – “LIVING PROOF”

There’s a new Bon Jovi song in the world (off upcoming album Forever, due June 7 via Island), and it uses the same talk box effect as “Livin’ On A Prayer” and “It’s My Life.” Come on, you know you’re curious.

LUMBEROB – “MY GOTH ACQUAINTANCE”

Former Adult Rodeo frontman and carpenter Rob Erickson has been making eccentric rock and putting on theatrical live shows as Lumberob since the late ’00s. His new album, Hunter Gather, is out July 12 via Shimmy-Disc, and this is the fun, weird first single and video.

EARTH TONGUE – “OUT OF THIS HELL”

Ty Segall describes New Zealand duo Earth Tongue as “Almost as if Philip K. Dick produced Black Sabbath.” You definitely get the Sabbath on “Out of This Hell” which also has a synthwave undercurrent to it as well.

PRINCE FATTY – “SMELLS LIKE TEEN SPIRIT” FT. LITTLE ROY & HOLLIE COOK

You may remember reggae legend Little Roy’s 2011 album The Battle for Seattle which had him, along with producer Prince Fatty, covering Nirvana in a rub-a-dub style. They’re back with a new version of “Smells Like Teen Spirit” but this time featuring Hollie Cook as well.

YOUR OLD DROOG – “MERCURY THERMOMETERS”
