So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
PRINCESS NOKIA – “BLUE VELVET”
Princess Nokia has announced a new album, Girls, due October 10 via Artist House. In Nokia’s own words, “‘Blue Velvet’ is both delicate and sinister. It supports women’s rights and women’s wrongs. It straddles the edge of confrontation and dares predatory behavior to be reckoned with.” That’s a very good teaser of what to expect from this heavy new song.

AREN’T WE AMPHIBIANS – “THIS IS TEAMWORK!”
San Diego emo band Aren’t We Amphibians have given us another enjoyable taste of their upcoming debut album Parade! Parade!.

THURSTON MOORE – “TEMPTATION INSIDE YOUR HEART” (THE VELVET UNDERGROUND COVER)
Noted Olivia Rodrigo and Chappell Roan fan Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth has put his spin on The Velvet Underground’s “Temptation Inside Your Heart,” which the band recorded in 1968 and shelved until 1985’s VU.

ASH – “WHICH ONE DO YOU WANT?” & “FUN PEOPLE” FT GRAHAM COXON
Long-running UK trio Ash will release new album Ad Astra on October 3 and they’ve just shared this new double-a-side single. “Which One Do You Want?” is very Smiths-y while “Fun People” features Blur guitarist Graham Coxon.

PILLOW QUEENS – “BE A BIG GIRL”
Pillow Queens follow their 2024 album Name Your Sorrow with a new single, “Be a Big Girl.” “Usually people expect ‘being a big girl’ to mean keeping your chin up, not making a fuss, and politely ignoring the fact you’re being shoved towards the door,” they say. “For us, it’s the opposite. It’s staying exactly where you are when you’re told to leave, making a fuss, and taking up more space in the process. Living in Ireland, making music here, and not hopping on the first flight out is already an act of stubborn optimism. And yeah, sometimes you’re crying in Lidl or planning a better life in Australia, but at least you’re still standing. That’s the kind of ‘big girl’ we’re interested in being.”

DAPHNI – ELEVEN”
While there’s been no official announcement, it sure seems like we’re getting a new album from Daphni, aka Caribou’s Dan Snaith. “Eleven” is the third new one this summer. It’s a trancey banger.

LAPÊCHE – “HAPPY 4U”
Brooklyn’s LAPÊCHE have announced a new album, Autotelic, due January 30, 2026 via Tiny Engines. Here’s the soaring, new-wavey synthrock of new single “Happy 4U.”

BLAWAN – “NOS”
UK electronic musician Blawan has announced his first album for XL, SickElixir, due out October 10. Here’s the dark, eerie new single “NOS.”

BEN QUAD – “IT’S JUST A TITLE”
Oklahoma City emo band Ben Quad have announced their sophomore album, Wisher, due 11/14 via Pure Noise. Read about lead single “It’s Just A Title” here.

DESTINY BOND – “PEACE AS A PUNCHLINE”
Denver hardcore punks Destiny Bond have announced their sophomore album, The Love, due 10/17 via Convulse. Read about lead single “Peace As A Punchline” here.

Former Eric’s Trip frontperson Julie Doiron is back with this spare new song she recorded in Chicago. Lovely stuff.

KNEECAP & PAUL HARTNOLL (ORBITAL) – “SAYŌNARA”
Kneecap are back with a killer new single, “Sayōnara,” that was co-written and produced by Orbital‘s Paul Hartnoll. The Irish rap trio, who lest ye forget make music in addition to headlines for their political views, have long been fans of ’90s rave and electronica, and this works like gangbusters.

BILLY BRAGG – “HUNDRED YEAR HUNGER”
Billy Bragg, who has mixed pop and politics his entire 40-year career, has shared a new song, “Hundred Year Hunger,” in support the Palestinian people. He writes, “‘Hundred Year Hunger’ looks at the current famine that Israel has created in Gaza through the lens of a century of enforced food insecurity and malnutrition imposed on the Palestinian people, firstly by British imperialism, then as a weapon of mass displacement by the state of Israel.”
