So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
JOSÉ GONZÁLEZ & LOGIC1000 – “HEARTBEATS” (LOGIC1000 REMIX)
“Having lived with Heartbeats by the Knife during 22 plus years it felt refreshing to hear a good remix,” says José González. “Usually I’m skeptical to up-pitched vocals but this sounded great! Like mini-me singing to a fat beat. Loving this danceable up tempo version! We didn’t have that many remixes of this song, partly because there weren’t stems, since I recorded the original with guitar and vocals simultaneously. After many years, I finally took the time to mimic the original with separate guitar and vocals for karaoke and remixes.”

WAXAHATCHEE & KEVIN MORBY – “YOU FOUND ME” (THE FRAY COVER)
Waxahatchee and Kevin Morby’s new take on The Fray’s “You Found Me” is from the soundtrack to Lena Dunham and Luis Felber’s new Netflix series Too Much.

BEEN STELLAR – “ADORED”
NYC indie rock band Been Stellar, who recently opened for Fontaines D.C. at their massive Finsbury Park show in London, are back with their second new single of 2025. “The distance between experience and song feels pretty slim on this one, which makes me a bit uncomfortable, but ultimately very proud,” says vocalist Sam Slocum. “I remember when we recorded it I really didn’t want to listen back because of how personal it felt, but now I see this song as a real artistic benchmark for us.”

GRUMPY – “CRUSH”
NYC’s Grumpy announced a new EP, Piebald, due out September 26 via Bayonet. They’re shared a new single from it, “Crush,” about which Heaven Schmitt says, “‘Crush’ was written years ago, during a time when I kept finding myself at the edge of saying ‘I love you,’ but not quite. It was about all the crushes I’d ever had, but more specifically, it was about one person. They had actually written me a song called ‘Crush’ first, and this was my response. At the time, I was engaged and in an open relationship. That familiar rush of a new crush was there, but something about this one felt different, like it could turn my whole life upside down. And, in some ways, it did. Though we eventually settled into friendship, I look back on this as the beginning of the end, the realization that– shit, I’m gayer than I thought, and ultimately it led to the end of my marriage to our drummer (and beloved friend) Austin Arnold. ‘Crush’ was the first song I wrote about them. It’s about the thrill of obsession, of possibility. ‘Flower,’ which came out last year on our EP Wolfed, was about the other side of that story: the peace that comes with letting go, and allowing something once-romantic to transform into deep friendship.”

ØXN – “CRUEL MOTHER” (BEN FROST & DROKK REMIXES)
Geoff Barrow (Beak>, Portishead) and Ben Salisbury, who’ve composed the soundtracks for most of Alex Garland’s films (Ex Machina, Annihilation, Civil War), have revived their synth-forward DROKK project to remix ØXN’s “Cruel Mother” for a new 12″ single</A. that features a remix by Ben Frost on the flipside. Proceeds go to War Child UK.

FLO x KAYTRANADA – “THE MOOD”
“‘The Mood’ is a fun and fresh take on sex,” FLO say of their new collaboration with Kaytranada. “Sometimes you’re not in the mood! We made this song two years ago and it still feels brand new to us. We are so honored to have been able to work with Kaytranada and so happy that the world can enjoy it with us!!! #permissionissexy”

LOOMS – “HAPPY BIRTHDAY”
Brooklyn’s Looms have shared their first new music since 2023 with this bit of widescreen twangy pop. It’s the first single from their Big Dream EP that will be out this fall.

DEFTONES – “MY MIND IS A MOUNTAIN”
Deftones officially announced their tenth album, private music, and shared the first single – read more about it here.

CAST – “POISON VINE”
It’s the first single from Britpop vets and current Oasis tourmates Cast’s new album.

VENERA – “TEAR”
Venera, the duo of Korn guitarist James “Munky” Shaffer and composer/filmmaker Chris Hunt, announced their second album and shared the first single, which you can read more about here.

JENS LEKMAN – “CANDY FROM A STRANGER”
Jens Lekman has announced Songs For Other Peoples Weddings, his first new album in eight years, which will be out September 12 via Secretly Canadian. It’s a concept album about a fictional wedding singer and was inspired by his own experience as a wedding singer. Here’s the first single.

PURITY RING – “PLACE OF MY OWN”
